What about cussing? That’s usually hardly regarded or complained about when it comes to video games.

Who else was all, “omg Bass in Megaman 7, said the D-Word! That’s so cool!?” lol
Not to mention, “crap” was uttered 3 times in EarthBound, surprised they got away with that, as back in 1995, it was considered more vulgar then it is now.

One of the earliest video games to feature a cuss word was actually a Nintendo arcade game titled “Sky Skipper.” (Which was recently rereleased on the Nintendo Switch via Hamster’s Arcade Archives.)

@Beau Skunky
I still remember the PS1/PC Harry Potter game where Voldemort says “Damn you Potter!”

There’s also Sgt. Byrd in Spyro Year of the Dragon, who says “What the devil?”

Speaking of which:

I started playing Year of the Dragon: Reignited. So far, I’m really enjoying it. The level design feels like a hybrid of Spyro 1 and 2; there are hidden areas in each level. Some of them just have the egg, which is reminiscent of Spyro 1, and others have some kind of challenge, which is reminiscent of Spyro 2. Some of these areas might have additional eggs unrelated to the challenge.

What I remember the most fondly of Spyro 3 is the gameplay and story integration, especially after the weird story in Spyro 2. Dragons are a source of magic, so The Sorceress has dragon eggs kidnapped. The dragons leaving the forgotten realms caused all of its magic to disappear, which causes some of the portals to not work. Hatching eggs causes portals to re-activate. All of the problems of the realms are caused by The Sorceress’ minions: the rhynocs. Your goal is to retrieve the eggs, and they’re the reward for everything from beating levels, to completing challenges, to defeating bosses. Everything you do ties back to the eggs and/or The Sorceress, and there’s a story reason to complete every single challenge in the game.

Another thing I really like are the other playable characters. Whether or not they expand or dilute gameplay is a matter of preference, but I really like them. So far, Sheila and Sgt. Byrd are fun to use and feel really good to control.

“What the devil?!” isn’t vulgar, but it does kinda sound like a replacement for “WTHell?”
Several characters said that in earlier episodes of the old TMNT show.

The GBA translation of Final Fantasy V also had several uses of “Damn!”, “Dammit!”, and one use of “ass”. Despite this, it still got rated E even though the GBA versions of IV and VI were E10+ despite NOT containing any cursing.

I dunno, maybe I’m an old prude, but I just don’t think a video game with nudity should receive only an “M” rating. I feel they should get the fabled “AO” (adults only) rating. That includes Dante’s Inferno and The Witcher series, and probably GTAV. You may all call me an old prude now.

I think it depends on how much nudity there is. (Is there full frontal in the game, or is it just bare chests?) There are very few games that received an “AO” ESRB rating, so it’s kinda hard to find one to compare it to.

Y’know, Nintendo got away with a bare-chested harpy enemy in the original Kid Icarus NES game’s instruction manual, and naked famous statues in Animal Crossing. (But it’s art, so it’s fine.)

@Jarkes
The ESRB is weird sometimes. Earthbound Beginnings (the 8-but NES prequel, AKA Mother 1, or “EB Zero.”) has a T rating, and I haven’t seen anything bad in it besides the term “tiger droppings.” Also, it’s the first NES game to receive the T-rating.

Some GBA & DS Castlevania games had “damn,” “hell,” & “ass” used. Luckily not too overused, as the more rare a swear is, the more surprise/edgeyness it seems to have.

Let’s not forget blood, and nightmare-ish villains in Kirby.

@DarklordYuri
Also, since Xeno is down, that means that Beyond the Blasting Scales is your next story quest, and there’s one more after it and than that’s if for story missions in MHW.
