-Ultra fast speed, to make the battles go by even faster  
-Photo Mode  
-The option of having the orchestrated version of the soundtrack, instead of just the PS4 version’s infamous MIDI tracks  
-Japanese voice acting  
-More rideable monsters such as the Great Sabrecat, Slime Knight, Ice Golem, and Iron Maiden  
-2D Mode, which is basically a version of the entire game rendered in the graphical style of an SNES game, like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI

The 2D mode is more akin to the older Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior) games of NES days.

SNES, actually. It’s pretty clearly 16-bit style (the promotional materials initially mistakenly referred to it as “8-bit”, but later corrected that to “16-bit”).

Did Obsidian make the Wild Wasteland a trait because they knew how straight the Classic games were and wasn’t sure if Beth’s version where it was a natural part of the world was good or not?

Pretty sure there’s also English voice acting, but then again the PS4 version had English voice acting as well (despite the PS4 version not having Japanese voice acting).

I’m guessing that they didn’t consider that players may want to hear the Japanese voices.

It is a disappointment, yes. It’s supposed to make the game extra wacky, but it only makes like 10 or 12 one-off instances in a game that can easily run 100 hours. Like replacing normal grenades in one area with 3 unique “Holy Hand Grenades” (a Monty Python reference), or adding a random encounter with a bunch of grannies attacking you with rolling pins, or switching one group of enemies in a secluded spot with aliens.

Yeah, I prefer it if it was just in the game or removed entirely, since it tried a bit too hard to be serious and failed to realized that Beth was able to give the world some wacky elements without it feeling forced for the most part, unlike the Classic games where the only wacky elements and references are in dialogue and random encounters and were often very out-of-place in the world.

No, the Japanese version didn’t even have any voice acting AT ALL until the Switch port. Only the English version of the PS4 release had any voice acting.
