What was the earliest example of microtransactions in AAA games?
The earliest I can think of is Forza Motorsport 5, mostly because of the Forza 5 Classic Game Room review from back in 2014 (“The last time I turned on Gran Turismo 6, it gave me a few new cars. The next time I turn on Forza 5, I expect it to take some cars back and require me to buy them again”), but there’s probably earlier examples than that…
