Smolder is a cutie
About 40-50 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles and I gotta be honest, I’m getting pretty tired of it now. I was fairly interested at first but now I’m just getting bored stiff. I just got past Central Factory specifically.
I can respect why people like the game a lot and to each their own. Big, pretty environments, great soundtrack, the gem system is kinda sweet and allows you to change your character setups decently.
But at this point it just feels like I’ve been doing the same thing for the past 30 hours now, with success after success and no real struggle unless I throw myself at enemies way above my level for no reason, in which case it’s practically impossible.
Not a huge fan of the enemy balancing in the world and the fact that the overall combat mechanics and best strategies stay the same throughout the whole game pretty much, mostly despite who you’re fighting. Also, the side-quests in this game are utter garbage IMO, I’ve had so little incentive to do any of them outside of “Well, I may as well just do as much as I can”.
I started 2 and played for about an hour the other day, but don’t want to go too far without finishing XC1, so I’ll have to see it through for story sake, as the story at least is kind of interesting.
