Anyone think Capcom lost its touch with fighting games?

Apparently, the COD’s multiplayer allows you to play as anyone you want, which means you can have black women on the German side. Naturally, journos who clamored for stuff like that in the first place are offended.
 
I think that’s great, because it’s the stuff that pisses off both SJWs and Nazis. When you piss of both of those groups, you’re really doing something right.

I was merely pointing out that localizers working with Japanese devs and getting their approval for certain changes is not a new thing, but that article made it sound like this was only a recent thing. That doesn’t mean that those changes can’t still be stupid and pointless.

We’ve already learned Nich Maragos believes his version superior over the Japanese version going as far as to bribe a reviewer and then proceed to say hers is the only one that matters to give FE a good. Isn’t that just a little strange to you?
 
So pardon me for not trusting someone how is not trustworthy when it comes to a media that I enjoy.

Though I will admit that Maragos is ABSOLUTELY full of crap and the Fates localization, with the exception of that one Support conversation, was a trainwreck.
 
Localization can be done poorly, yes. But the whole intended purpose of localization is to translate things into English and make them actually sense in English, and yes, that does sometimes require changing certain things. But half of the GG people get angry at ANY changes and would rather dialogue be 100% literally translated, regardless of how awkward it would sound in English, like when they got angry at the Breath of the Wild tutorial actually sounding like a natural conversation and having personality in the English version, rather than being 100% literal, stiff, and grammatically incorrect.

Don’t you the fact she didn’t disclose that information and him promoting her review of the game a little concerning?
 
Also, I’m not ignoring the face localizers working with Japanese devs could be beneficial, but when the LEAD localizer is a narcissist and demand his way, that is a problem.
 
If someone that had done localizations of games in their spare time took Maragos’ place, I would say NoA is on the right track, but with him probably demanding changes to fit his morality it’s a very untrusting collaboration.
 
Hopefully they just tell him to go screw himself.

The impression I’m getting is that Maragos was only the lead translator on Fates, and he hasn’t had as much control over things since then (I haven’t seen his name in the credits of any of the Nintendo games I’ve played recently, several of which came out after Fates, but then again, there honestly haven’t been very many that I HAVE played).
 
I think Bill Trinen might have noticed the backlash over the Fates stuff and possibly demoted him. As for Tokyo Mirage Sessions… I think Atlus does their localizations in-house (and this was after Maragos left Atlus), so any changes made there is on them (though I still think the “vagina bones” comment was stupid).
 
And you also have moments where the Japanese devs will try to translate things into English themselves, despite often barely speaking English. I remember hearing one instance – I forget what it was for – where someone on the localization team added a lot more flavor to certain texts, and then the Japanese devs came in and replaced all his hard work with generic, literal translations.
 
Now, with Persona 5, that guy who wrote that one article complaining about the shogi thing not being changed was stupid, but Persona 5 did still have a couple issues with things being rather awkwardly translated.

To break up this retarded slapfight (and also because I just found this), have a small video about the first Half-Life’s surprisingly in-depth AI of… roaches.

I’m catching up on The Runaway Guys’ LP of Mario Party 6 right now. Even though I never finished their Mario Party 5 LP. Or their Super Mario 3D World LP. Or their Sonic Adventure LP. Or watched any of their Super Mario Bros. 3, Four Swords Adventures, or Super Metroid LPs.
 
…I’ve got a LOT of catching up to do, but right now I want to focus on the one they’re currently in the middle of doing.
