Video Game General 2: Definitive/Remastered Edition

Side note, apparently yesterday was GameFreak’s 30th anniversary. Naturally, their special anniversary stream talked almost entirely about Pokemon and barely anything about their other games like Quinty/Mendel Palace, Pulseman, or Drill Dozer.

And last I’ve heard, Nintendo is making most of the profit, where GF isn’t much larger than during the early years, staff-wise. This I blame both companies for, since it allows less to be done and allows ideas to be bounced around less due to there being less voices.

GameFreak apparently hires a lot of freelancers fairly often, while their actual permanent staff is around 150-300+ people.

Well, they did still devote a decent amount of time to their older stuff from what I heard (I didn’t watch the stream).

I’d love it if Pulseman got a remake. The original actually had digitized voice acting (I think most of it was Japanese with a few English bits here and there). Imagine proper voice-acting and HD-level sprites in a remake.

Know any good Let’s Plays for Pulseman? I can’t seem to find any.

Still say that Sun/Moon made the only somewhat challenging villainous team through Guzma. He doesn’t need a legendary to whoop your ass, just his bugs.

I dunno, I hear Nintendo is actually very hands off with their second party developers like Intelligent Systems, and Game Freak, though the “Pokémon Company” has been able to have some freedom, like they made an official Pokémon mobile game before Nintendo did.
 
And apparently the staff for the new Pokémon games is said to be quite large.

though clearly not large enough to some people since the nat dex controversy, it does make me wonder if gamefreak would consider either breaking off Nintendo and go off its own or use their success to EXPAND, depending on the success of little town hero and SWSH. I honestly expect he small permanent staff will be an issue in future games, pokemon or no, and there’s no indication that’s Nintendo would stop them and the success of the Pokemon franchise would at least give them enough for an added 100 or so.

What I’ve been hearing is that Sword & Shield has nearly 1000 people in its credits. Meaning that, if GameFreak has around 150-300 permanent staff, that nearly 700-850 of those credits are freelancers. That… could hurt them in the long run.

oof, considering how much of an rpg machine the switch is and the controversies about it, and the fact they are setting their “a” team off to little town hero while “b” takes care of pokemon, they better hope they can break even or they are going to be in a tight spot real quick.

Do you have proof that the team is split? Is there a list of names of people who are working on Little Town Hero but not SnS, or are you just going blame SnS’s shortcoming on it even though Jarkes pointed out that LTH looks to be in a very rough state, implying that if it was split, than LTH got the “b” team, not SnS.

to be fair, I did state they were rumors, but many pointed out how LTH seemed to have alot more love into it then SWSH, particularly after the natdex conctroversy, in fact, that might be where the “a” and “b” team thing came from. That and I did not read that post. That and that guy didn’t really support his side much either, not even linking an article or something and whose evidence is mostly circumstantial.

the post or the rumor, as i’ve only recently known the a/b team rumor, let alone the sizes. Probably not helped by gamefreak not giving any info about putting the nat dex (though after reading up on tv tropes, i quess it’s becuase the model makers were lazy bois or something).

okay, I guess I was wrong there, but it certainly fooled everyone at least (to iterate, gamefreak somehow let this get by, here a tree from LTH for reference)

The Stellaris launcher got updated and I had to reenable all my mods. I have like 30 of them.
