Mainly because how the Decepticons died. Starscream blinded and exploded by Sam, Soundwave from Bee, at the time Barricade having his legs blown off and being shot at, Shockwave blinded by a parachute and Optimus killing him in seconds, and the biggest one, Megatron being beaten in a few seconds by a one armed Optimus Prime. Also wasn’t a fan of Sentinel in that movie because I called he’d be the main villain. Shockwave was wasted very much and this is coming from someone who loves Shockwave in the comics. Also the way the treated Wheeljack in that movie was unforgivable, seriously, that design and the way he was killed off were pretty bad. Ironhide’s death was pretty bad for such a good character too.
 
Compare that to RotF where The Fallen, even though not in the movie that much, was at least interesting, Megatron actually succeeded in something and he wasn’t as much of a disappointment as he was in DotM even though he serves someone beside himself sadly, Starscream had hints of his treacherous self he’s known for where he got none in DotM, the Forest fight actually caught my attention, Simmons was in this movie longer, and the Cons were treated as an actual threat compared to cannon fodder and shooting galleries in DotM.

My main issues with Revenge Of The Fallen are it’s complete and utter mess of a script, The humor going too dumb (Even for a Michael Bay film), The Twins, and some annoying human characters.

Those are big flaws for the movie yes. No doubt the twins were awful and the humor was unfunny along with humans like Leo being annoying. Not to mention Devastator being there for just a couple of minutes. RotF had a writer’s strike which explains how it was the way it is while DotM had no writer’s strike and just left an even worse taste in my mouth

I will admit if there was no writers strike, I think ROTF would’ve been at least a 6.5/10 Film for me.

At least they straight up vanished and were killed off in the DOTM comic adaptation where Jar Jar just appeared in the movies less and became a street clown in the books after the Empire fell

The Twins however are not only annoying, but they are also VERY questionable.

At least they weren’t designed like “Que” even though their designs were just ridiculous.

Anyways, I think the main reason I gave Dark Of The Moon a 7.3/10 was for these reasons  
1.Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel  
2.The visuals were at it’s peak  
3.Slightly better script  
4.The 3rd act was full of terrific action (Had the 3rd act not been this great, I would’ve given the film a 6.5/10)

Leonard Nimoy did good as Sentinel yeah but I still didn’t like the character
 
Some areas the CGI was good but some didn’t look that good compared to the first movie
 
Slightly overall yeah but the treatment of the Decepticons like Shockwave along with Wheeljack beign Que and how he died along with how Ironhide died bring it down for me. DotM had a more cohesive script but it’s treatment of characters like those just make it not as redeemable imo No writer’s strike excuse for this one.
 
3rd act had nice action for sure but the main Cons went out like Stormtroopers.
 
Although one of DotM’s best aspects was the soundtrack by Steve Jablonsky along with the sense of finality, that was until at the premiere of the Ride Bay decided to do a fourth one after he saw how people were excited at the premiere of the Ride at Universal Singapore

Tom Kenny and Reno Wilson actually improvised a lot of the Twins’ dialogue though.

After some research, the Rock Lords are definitely more ridiculous. The Action Masters just had dumb advertising.

I also remember all the work John Barber did to make a story that wasn’t suppose to be be part of the primary universe and some how made it work.

Seriously, Revenge Of The Fallen’s teaser poster is fucking incredible, Shame the film wasn’t as cool.

I remember going to see that movie feeling really pumped after TF07…and coming out of it fuming at how stupid it was, how poorly directed it was, how it hadn’t followed up on anything established in the first movie in any satisfying way, how it introduced a new big bad out of left field, and above all how it turned Optimus Prime into a homicidal maniac.
