Tokusatsu Thread (Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman and the likes)

On Ryusoulger 34: Pricious officially lives up to everyone’s dread at the mention of the name from last episode… and so is totally not gonna last more than two, maybe three episodes, I’ll bet.

I think Bat Nezire is one of the few Sentai monsters to be revived in a non 2 parter.

Pretty cool that we’re finally getting an official release of Return of Ultraman, considering that until now the only English subs we’ve ever had for it were bootlegs.

Today’s Beast Morphers: It’s a real shame Vargoyle didn’t last any longer. Gaisorg, Vargoyle… what’s with cool villains not getting their due these days?

Vargoyle still lasted long than he did in Go-Busters considering that in Go-Busters he was just a regular MOTW.

It’s kind of interesting how the multi attack rifle from megaranger, as well as the in-space version, never required the red rangers weapon as part of the combination.

I got my Godzilla Criterion Showa Collection yesterday.It’s great.No new commentaries,but some neat interviews.One weird thing,King Kong Vs Godzilla,The original version and half the reason I bought this,is on the Bonus Features disc and the American version is on the main movie discs.Some of the movies don’t have the English dubs at all,even if they’ve got several dubs to choose from.I can’t complain,since I already have most of the English versions i want,though not in Blu-Ray quality.

It’s somewhat weird that it took until the Finale arc of Megaranger for Nejirejia to discover the Identities of the rangers, especially when they typically changed in front of the monsters of the week.

Even in Japan it’s rare for the villains to not know who the Rangers are from day one. I was surprised they didn’t (since yeah, they don’t bother hiding their identities from the bad guys as far as I’d seen.)

…That artwork is hideous. And I thought the 90’s Marvel MMPR comics had bad art…

So something I just realized earlier today is that since Wild Force, there have only been 2 Yellow Rangers who weren’t blondes (Dustin from Ninja Storm and Z from SPD).

Watching Kamen Rider Super-1 now. Today’s plot? EVIL SOAP.

The most dangerous type of sentai monster is definitely the ones that can analyze and block or neutralize the rangers powers, weapons, and even mecha.

Carranger also had a lot of ridiculous villian plots like that one.

 
The Ninja Steel cast chillin.’ William Shewfelt (Brody) is the team pillow, it seems. Also, Zoe Robins (Hayley) has a shirt just like the one Brody wore back on the Warrior Dome… did they make a bunch of those in a bunch of sizes? Eh, either way, it’s cute.

It seems sentai kept having plots like that while Kamen Rider would start taking itself more seriously upon its return (I can see Kreon coming up with something like that even now; not so much any recent KR villain.)

I actually liked the art.Later on in the comic the Gnarly Gnome looks pretty cool,when he’s turning into buildings.

Did he shrug off the Power Blaster that easily in the original episode? He looks like he barely felt it and I don’t remember him being one of the tougher monsters!
