How do you deal with the realization that some of your favorite shows in the past has a disturbing element that flew over your head due to ignorance, but now that you’re older you realize and can’t help but think of them even as you still enjoy the bulk of said show? Like if they were shows (albeit one for kids and being slapstick and the other being Machinima web series) with a healthy dose of black comedy in them and intentionally unsympathetic characters? How do you deal with the feeling?

I don’t, because finding out an old show has aged poorly isn’t actually a problem for me because I don’t tie my identity and self-worth into the media I consume.
Stop getting so emotionally attached to your fandom.
Then get over Josh, Lizzy, all of your former friends, and also get over the fact Frozen 2 isn’t going to conferm lesbian Elsa. Matter of fact here have a qoute from a Kiwi Farm user.
Chapter Master Tu’Shan
She doesn’t have any detachment.
Just in the last couple weeks she’s thrown a fit because Frozen 2 won’t include her “Elsa is gay” headcanon, and vowed to stop playing World of Warcraft because the metaplot isn’t treating her waifu Sylvanas the way she wants it to She is very emotionally attached to her fandoms.
But she also tied her identity and self-worth to the illusion that she is superior to everyone else.
So she grasps at whatever straws she can to pretend that she’s better than whoever she’s talking to right now.
