Here’s the critical failing of your defense of Kill La Kill: Neither of those premises are true. How do you think I knew where to find that one screenshot I used in that one Glass of Water episode where I pointed out it’s central trope as needing to die?

Anime fans have been filling my ear with shit like this since I acknowledged the series existence, but I’ve already seen it and I already know that you are completely full of shit. Kill La Kill is an unapologetically misogynistic waste of fucking time with only the thin veneer of social commentary to use as a casual defense against criticism.

It might pretend to have an over-arching theme about how stripping naked will empower you, but that’s exactly what someone who makes an entire series that glorifies gawking at half-naked women like a total pervert would believe, and that’s the exact kind of excuse that an audience of perverts would swallow.

Also, it’s not “Fanservice”, it’s “Perv Pandering.”

They could, but that would require owning their decisions and the criticism that comes with it. And one key trait of misogynistic creators is that they can’t handle criticism and need to deflect or defang it in some way. So they reach for excuses.

First of all, when Sutanu goes into combat, she hulks out and turns into a chitin-plated actual monster the size of a small car. So her usual attire is, appropriately, casual wear.

Additionally Sutanu’s overall personality is fun. Sutanu is not the usual bog-standard “fanservice” character largely because of my hatred for things like “tsundre” and “shy demure” characters. Sutanu is aggressive, jovial, energetic, and foul-mouthed. She’s closer to dark-fantasy Deadpool than anything else.

Also it’s worth pointing out that “Fanservice” and “Low Coverage Attire” are two very different things. take a
look at Sutanu’s design.

Despite the exposed skin, her external design is desexualized. Particularly due to the fact that she’s wearing a binder. Were this an anime character, not only would her chest be more pronounced, there would be a LOT of visible cleavage. That is not the case with Sutanu. Her body is visibly marred with scars and poisoned veins, her face is scarred in such a way as to suggest that under the blindfold are gruesome wounds to her eyes. In fact, she’s even posed in such a way as to suggest that she’s about to kick your ass.

Sutanu is a sexual character, but in a black comedy “drunken braggart” sense than a pure titillation sense. She’s a comedy character, and very little thought has been put toward pure sex appeal. In fact, Sutanu crosses the line to being gross at times, something that’s never seen in female characters with high sexuality.

Yeah it’s possible to find Sutanu attractive regardless if you just like that kind of woman or you’re a freakazoid who likes monsters, but she’s a type of character that no Japanese animation studio would even think to design because she is guaranteed to kill the boners of lonely otakus.

Well, matpat only did 4 episodes about Undertale and only three of those were really theories about it. One was about the pope. If you were going to make a joke about matpat, I’d probably use Five Nights at Freddy’s as an example



Undertale is a game about choices and how those choices affect those around you. This is reflected in the various different endings based on who lives or dies, who you chose to hang out with, and other little elements. What does the fandom do?

Obsess over a non-entity that is mentioned less than 1% of the time.

Obsess over a child that made some clear cut and dry choices and try to paint them as some serial killer.

Obsess over another child who has no agency or behavior outside of what the player instructs them to do but try to paint them as a saint who would never harm a fly, despite having to kill two characters no matter the playthrough.

Obsess over a joke character who doesn’t care one bit about what happens because of how the game itself works.
Create thousands upon thousands of alternate universes to rearrange, reimagine, and maybe even completely rewrite characters and story elements, often with little creativity. Seriously, a universe where everyone is a massive evil dick is not fun, it’s boring.



Well… The original everyone is an evil dick AU was actually kinda interesting because it was specifically exploring the question of “What do you do if you encounter someone who doesn’t deserve to be spared?” however the fandom kept copying and pasting that idea without actually understanding the question it was asking. Much like they do with original game.



That question was already posed to the player in the main game with Flowey.

Flowey does nothing redeemable in the story. He tricks you into getting hurt, tries to kill you, stalks you on multiple occasions, supposedly hires Muffet to kill you (debateable), and ultimately dashes your only hope of getting home by shattering Asgore’s soul. Then he transforms into an ungodly abomination with the sole intent of torturing and killing you countless times for nothing but shits and giggles.
Flowey is THE prime example of someone in Undertale who absolutely deserves to die.



That’s true… If you don’t ever play a True Pacifist Ending.

While any of the Neutral ending do keep the choice to kill Flowey true to the message. The True Labs expection and the fleshed out back story then ties the most unredamable character to the character who’s most deservent of a happy ending but can never have one. Witch one doesn’t really redem flowey and also you have to make the choice to spare him BEFOR all this without the game really doing anything to justify spearing him.



Here’s where things get interesting.

Yes, the True Pacifist path and ending reveal that Flowey is Asriel reincarnated. So, Flowey’s actions are Asriel’s actions. Now the question becomes “Is Asriel justified?”

In my initial Pacifist run i chose to forgive Asriel, but upon reflection i don’t know of i should have. First things first, when Asriel gets his body back, his first course of action is to attack and try to kill Frisk. This is a direct parallel to the Omega Flowey fight: he wants to kill you, reset, and toy with Frisk for all eternity. He doesn’t care that he had to kill and absorb the souls of literally every monster in the Underground to do so. As long as it helps him kill Frisk and control time, he will gladly kill them all.

Even initially when he is reminded of Chara and starts getting his emotions back, he gives an all out desperation attack to try and finish Frisk off. It’s only after that fails that he turns back to normal and apologizes.

Also, let’s not forget that Asriel does not find his actions redeemable. He flat out says that there’s no excuse for what he’s done and is surprised if Frisk forgives him. Even then he chooses to stay in the underground, knowing that when he turns back into Flowey it will be better for everyone for him to be as far away from them as possible. He’s dangerous and he knows it.

Is it right for us to forgive someone for being a literal monster, if they don’t even forgive themselves? Staying underground is the consequence that Asriel gives himself for his killing sprees. What right do we have to judge him differently?


