So RWBY just included cute gay wives. They did this by having a main character’s sister come in, introduced the woman she came with specifically her wife, and then the entire cast fawned over the couple’s adorable baby. Do you think that’s a good way to do representation since they A. Address the couple directly and B. Never made a big deal out of how progressive their company was?
Good fucking lord, professionals are being outclassed by fucking Rooster Teeth.
Odd I thought Rooster Teeth where professionals? Oh wait I forget RWBY is an anime like show and in Lily’s world no
professional makes an anime like show.

How is she ra failing in representation? Its way more blatant than most other cartoons also showing gay people
Subtext in the main characters and Last Minute Background Character gays. The show even refers to Catra and Adora’s relationship as “complicated” rather than anything racy like “girlfriend.”
It’s not good enough.
anonymous asked:
You do realize that whining about every show with lgbt representation being “not good enough” is going to make creators and companies not even want to bother with any kind of representation right? Especially with children’s media where it’s already really hard to convince the higher ups put in anything of the sort?
Oh hey, I tear apart this deceptive non-argument in next week’s Glass of Water! Hope to see you there!
Cunt.
anonymous asked:
You seem to make a lot of your videos with the expectation that your viewer has been keeping up with previous Glass of Waters. Is this intentional?
Yeah. I mean if you’re a new viewer why wouldn’t you go through all this fresh content waiting for you?
anonymous asked:
What do you think about the whole Tumblr purge fiasco? Also do you think its reasonable many left the site even though their blogs probably wont be affected by the staff?
Don’t care
No

There are two canon lesbians in She Ra. They’re in a relationship. They’re all cute during a fight scene against the horde. It’s later in the season though and they’re minor characters, but they hold hands and kick ass. It’s a start. If there’s a second season there might be more of them. Just wanted you to know there was a little more hope for the series. ❤️ If there’s hope for a reboot of She Ra. There’s hoe for 2019.
It’s later in the season though and they’re minor characters
NOT GOOD ENOUGH
At least it wasn’t the end of a series like Korra was. Then again this is doing is proving the anon that Lily called the C word’s point. This anon brings up something awesome about the minor characters and Lily is still whining.

Do you honestly believe it when show creators use the “well we had to fight the studio on it” exuse when it comes to gay characters?
Nope
anonymous asked:
Thoughts on the new NSFW policy Tumblr is enforcing?
I don’t care
Again you say that but then you’ll possibly be effected and then you’ll whine.

I remember people using SAGA a while back. I think it was Sexuality And Gender Alliance or something but I’m unsure of the second A

Honestly, why are some people so insistent on replacing a perfectly good acronym with something stupid?
Homophobes used to wax on about how the acronym had too many letters in it and it was “too confusing” and it seems a lot of LGBT people just fucking bought that shit.
Guys, what we already have is fine. Stop ruining it.
Look, I know years of latching onto shit like Lady Gaga and Rocky Horror and Steven Universe have sort of become ingrained into a lot of you, but not everything in the community has to be terrible. We’re allowed to have quality standards.
LGBTQIA+ is perfectly adequate. If at any time it isn’t, we just add more letters to it.
Just fucking stop.
Hi, I just watched slurred speech and I wanted to thank you for getting me to think about how I use the q-word when referring to other people. I was just wondering what you thought about the term MOGAI (marginalised orientations, gender identities and intersex) as an umbrella term for the community. (Also I wanted to tell you how happy I was to see you on my dash again and I hope you start to feel better and things get easier for you soon) 💜

MOGAI is not better than LGBTQIA+
So we shouldn’t use it.
There’s something that has been bothering me recently about the new Star War films. When watching yovideogames vlog of “The Last Jedi” they mention one thing that clicked into my mind. Why didn’t they use the Yuuhzan Vong for the antagonist role? Would have been better than retreading the original trilogy with the First Order.
lovethelastrebrithus
No, because the Yuuhzan Vong were a dumb book villain only notable by being undetectable by the Force
Retreating the Galactic Civil War with the First Order was the entire point because it was effectively redoing the Galactic Civil War story in a modern film with better characters (and also Kylo Ren) and more relevant political commentary so that people get into the story of Star Wars without having to dig through to find some 80′s movies that haven’t aged well.
In essence, it’s rendering the original trilogy obsolete.
That’s why they retread so much of the Original Trilogy, so Disney can imprint the same thing on today’s kids that Lucas imprinted on Generation X but now in their own brand.
Kind of like they do with Fairy Tales. How many of you know Sleeping Beauty as “A Disney Movie” first, and a fable second?
The six and seven year olds of today are going to wax nostalgic about Rey the way their grandparents are waxing about Luke Skywalker, and then grow up to to spend their entire adulthood shrieking about how Episode 10 is a travesty and driving whichever poor kid gets stuck playing Rey’s daughter to a lifetime of bullying and mental stress.
Apparently Lily thinks boys wouldn’t go through the same thing if they get picked to be Rey’s kid. Which isn’t all that shocking since Lily does want to blame all of the issues men face on just toxic masculinity as a whole and not society as a whole.

I know it’s probably not my place, but it sounds like things with you and Lizzy were pretty rough toward the end. Why didn’t you break things off sooner? What made you want to stay wit her?
Anonymous
I always felt safe with her.
For me, being able to feel safe is a luxury, especially now. I don’t even feel safe in my own home because it’s been broken into too many times. And after all the shit that’s happened the last few months I don’t feel safe in my home province.
I ALWAYS felt safe with Lizzy. A lot of things to do with my transition I did with her first or got her to help me with because I just felt more safe around her.
I’d always been terrified of going to Toronto because it has the highest death rate for trans women in the country. But managed to go with relatively little anxiety (claustrophobic plane notwithstanding) because Lizzy was there.
That feeling never went away even when things were getting rough. Even when she was angry with me. Even when I was angry with her. There were two instances during our relationship when I was absolutely furious with her, but I still felt safe when she was there.
It’s a hard thing to explain, but as long as I still felt safe around her, I felt that any issues we were having could be fixed with enough effort. And I was trying to do that, but I was trying to do that while being battered by everything that was happening in 2018 and with very little support from the people around me.
I just always felt safe around her, and I had no intention of being the one to end our relationship until I didn’t anymore.
