My opinion on the artist thing:  
There are artists, and there are production artists. Production artists rely more on their technical skills, rather than their actual artistry or creativity. Just ask professional production crew about their experience in the industry. To be a production artist is like picking up a trade.  
Now, drawing as a production artist is doing a JOB. A proper job. Can be underpaid job even. Nowadays you can get courses to be a certified draftsman for cheap, and be hired as an “artist.”
