Conservatives generally have no pop culture media game. As a disposition, conservatism is build around submission to and respect for established authority (especially religious and familial authority), and they tend to despise modern entertainment. The best they can do is try and co-opt point-and-laugh chan culture, which, in the information age, may have become the new right-wing.

True, but you won’t find many socially conservative fans of modern movies. And I’m sure conservatives in those days hated Eastwood and Wayne movies for their violence even as their modern successors look up to them because of their machismo.

Won’t move to better countries that have actual good healthcare because the way this country works makes it difficult to do so because maybe capitalism isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I don’t know if you’re aware but plane tickets and planning to move to a country across the Atlantic isn’t exactly cheap. And idiot Boomers are all “work hard and you’ll do great” while millenials are working their asses off at dead end jobs because they were told to go to college and end up with debt and a degree that won’t get them anywhere, while being broke all the time and healthcare is fucking expensive because the private industries have a monopoly on it all and are unregulated.

Belgian officials said that its small country couldn’t risk offending China, so they decided not to hasten the visa application for one case of uighur asylum seekers (which, at the end of the story, were taken from the belgian embassy by chinese police.)
Smart move by the Belgians. I don’t like it, but China is at the point where it can bully most errbody into submission. Better not phak around with da republic of people.
Unrelated but Uighur women are highly advised to marry Han men. I’m glad they’re promoting interracial marriages!

Yeah, great thing they’re promoting interracial marriages for the purpose of love and not, you know, subjugation.

Nothing says keeping a race/demographic/ethnicity under your thumb like forcing their women to marry your men.

Somehow, if it was Uighur men marrying Han women, I don’t think the Chinese “Communist” party would be fine with it.

What does exactly mean being right and left wing?

I considered myself a very libertarian person, but when it comes to economic themes, I side with free market, aka, right wing. Yet I believe in progressism (which honestly lacks an actual left or right wing affiliation) and personal freedom (usually vinculated with left.)

There’s the risk, but by definition the free market is supposed to keep constant competency. Plus the monopoly would cause stagnation since there’s litte room for improvement and no need to make variety, which would eventually make the company crash eventually. At the prospect of a monopoly I would concede the state the right to interven, but until that happens I think the world needs free market for competency. If you don’t see competency, then make it yourself, the idea is avoid making people grown complacient.

You’re only partaking in a constant battle with capital to leverage the state against it, when you could wipe the slate clean entirely and build a whole new system where the profit motive is no longer the motive.

There isn’t much competition anyways. Just small lurches forward in most of the market with everyone keeping up to deliver a product more disposable than the last, because the end goal is profit motive. Not fundamental improvements to life in and of itself. And so long as profit is the motive and there’s a race to have more of it one quarter than the next, and more of it than someone else then you’re going to be facing significance drawbacks and cuts elsewhere if points are not met to get a stronger machine at the expense of literally anyone else.

Well then what do you think it would be a better system? Socialism didn’t work.

Plus, being in favor of the free market doesn’t mean the state would be 100% exempt of responsability. The healthcare, the laws to defend the workers rights, basic public services like police, enviromental policies, fire control and so on. The thing is that no one should feel dependent on the state to make it’s own company, to do what he wants in life. For example, you can try a restaurant and then in 20 years, some work and maybe some luck you can have a huge success. There’s some rotten apples but that’s more from an individual standpoint, just because you want profit doesn’t mean companies would want to slave us. In fact, more often than not companies that break moral rules often get punished or have their image destroyed and their reputation taintened, and in such situations the market makes the rest. If anything, the big corrupt corporations can only go so far if the government itself intervenes, either by denying periodists to do their job or cleaning cases, but that would mean that the state is ultimately the corrupt one.

Plus, while rich people get a lot of pay, they’re also often the ones that usually gained their job from the ground like everybody else or were the fouders that had to make a lot of invertion to make it work in a high risk high reward situation. If you don’t compete, then you can’t get the huge pays for yourself.

I feel comfortably certain that, while standouts certainly exist, the majority of rich people today inherited their riches. And that the majority of those inherited riches didn’t come from hard work or invention, but from sheer luck (at best), or most likely ties to nobility, royalty, clergy, politics, or pure crime/evil deeds.

Well, yeah indeed. Of course, that is if you invert it instead of making an ass of yourself, though some guys like Trump just can seems to run out of money, on the other hand Trump is more of an enemy of free market who wants to apply his “American first” motto.

The fortune must go somewhere after someone dies, if is not inheritance, then is the state the one that gets it. Make your pic.

Fun-fact: There’s a major law family in this state who even has one of their own on the supreme court in the state, which is considered a victory for the disabled because he’s a literally blind judge. But here’s the kicker: it’s pretty strongly implied by history that the family’s wealth came directly from crime. As the story goes great grandpa ran with one of the local depression era gangs who knocked over banks left and right and no one could catch them. That is until great grandpa turned himself into the police after the statute of limitations was up.

Police still arrested him because in one robbery they took a hostage and that was a kidnapping charge. But he kept all that money. So all the kids went to law school and now they do law on the east side of the state.

But beyond that many of the major tech billionaires running silicon valley - or all of them - already had money. Bezos, Zuckerburg, Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates weren’t without considerably class money to have gone to college. And not just college for any “”“useful””” degree but some stuff people call stupid, philosophy, art and design, or they just were. Steve Jobs was an art major not an actual engineer. And to even think of that as a good choice is a upper middle-class WASP thing to do. Elon Musk himself had some good money from his family he used to but up ownership stocks in PayPal to start his empire of calling people pedophiles.

The Koch family isn’t new money either.

You’ll find more rich people from humble backgrounds in actors and rock stars (Harrison Ford and Bruce Springsteen come to mind). And at risk of pissing off Commune they’re not out of the same boat as the rest of us in so far as they don’t even own everything they do. They’re still at the hands of private capital from the same old money producers that run the industry who are even light years wealthier than them.

That’s what happens when the USA uses espionage to bend developing Socialist countries over and fuck them in the ass. Raw. Without lube.

And then have the gall to produce decades of propaganda about how Socialism is doomed to fail, which result in the production of people like you, Kyle, and AncapGoku.

Should I go into detail about how the US interfered in South America throughout the 20th century?

@AaronMk
You know, some assholes might use that skeleton to try and “prove” that Socialism kills and then refer to some biased propaganda that inflates the death count under State Capitalist regimes.

On an unrelated note, I need some help in dealing with someone who thinks that Capitalism isn’t responsible for all of the deaths under it because, to them, “It’s an economic system, not a government system.”
Background Pony #137C
Hold up. Someone said “socialism doesn’t work” are we talking about actual socialism like “Workers own means of production and eventual end goal is getting rid of the government”? Or are we arguing about the type of socialism that’s going on in places like The UK and other modern nations?
