Now then, I remember a French politician which I forget who said how the world handles Africa is essentially keeping it in a state of dependency, as well as a lot of the smart minds in Africa leave and pretty much never return.

The problem here is classifying the ancient egyptians as exactly “white” or “close to white”. What defines a “white” person?

I do agree that ancient egyptians were neither black nor white, but i disagree that they fit specifically into one category. This hazy classification of the ancient egyptians, again, proves neither you nor the guy you’re criticizing right.

If we go by linguistic lines (indo-european group), then the Basque of northern Spain are not european. Neither are the hungarians and finns. And the indians and persians would also be considered “white”.
But, if we go by the geographical line, then we’ll have to define the boundaries of Europe. Is Turkey an european country, what with being sandwiched between the Caucasus and the Balkans?

Technically, both sides are guilty, since the people who consider themselves “white” also tend to group various ethnicities into the category of “black” with skin colour as the defining criteria.
I only said the modern concept of race (white, black, asian) is a cultural construct. I didn’t necessarily say such construct is inherently bad.
If a person wants to identify as black due to the colour of their skin, that’s fine by me, so long as they act humble about it and avoid anachronisms.
