Alt-righters will unsarcastically say that white privilege isn’t real because there are white homeless people. There were white homeless people under slavery in America, weren’t there? Does that mean white privilege didn’t exist during slavery? Hardly. Today, African Americans make up more than 40% of the homeless population, but represent 13 percent of the general population.
Why do you think that is? Are they just stupid and lazy? I very much doubt that. So be sure to call out anyone repeating this bullshit.
“Privilege” doesn’t mean you’re part of the ruling class and have no problems. It means there are certain negative experiences that you won’t have as being part of a certain group. Even if homelessness was racially proportional to the population, it wouldn’t mean white privilege isn’t a thing.
Asian Americans do statistically well economically, but I, as a white person, still would never be affected by racial prejudice the way they could. I live in a pretty nice suburban area, and there a lot of first gen Indian immigrants in my neighborhood. They live pretty cozily for the most part, but that doesn’t mean they never get a “go back to your own country” from some a-hole.

The DOJ are in a sweaty frantic desperation to limit what he says, Mueller himself has made it clear the report was all we’re gonna get, the Democrats are too dumb as hell to act on what they already got/gonna get, the Republicans still own the Senate, and Fox News will gatekeep on news about the hearing to millions and spin whatever they do comment on as glowing praise.

I don’t think that’s fair to say at all. You’re ignoring the fact that Mueller’s testimony in this public setting is only possible at all because the Democrats control the House and have the power to investigate like this, which is not something the Republicans would ever have done if they still had control. And you’re also overlooking the fact that this testimony allows Democrats to not only push back against the false narrative Barr trotted out, it helps keep the report and its conclusions fresh in the minds of the people. They know as much as we do the Republicans are never going to do anything to hinder Trump in any way and would never impeach him (like they should), so continuing to remind everyone is one of the few things they can use it for at this point.
 
It may not be the action we want, but it is still action.

There have been good things passed. They just don’t always get a lot of publicity is all. But if it’s an example you want, I can give you one immediately after the Reagan Era. In 1990, under the first President Bush, Congress passed (with bipartisan support) a series of amendments to the Clean Air Act that reduced sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions, ultimately reducing acid rain levels by something like 65%.

Well, how about a very recent example? While it’s not at all great that it’s taken this long to do, the Senate voted just yesterday 97 to 2 to pass the bill extending the 9/11 victims’ compensation fund through 2092, essentially making it permanent. That’s a pretty good thing.

There will always be people looking to undermine good works. But that doesn’t change the fact that the works themselves were done with good intentions, or the good things they did do.
