I used to be like that too, briefly.
But withpeople subhumans like Chris Ray Gun and ShoeOnHead. Took about weeks of deradicalisation to get over their rhetoric and this was about in 2016-2017. What really got me was the Islamophobia.
It just seemed really easy at the time, to blame all of western society’s ills on a group of outsiders and paint refugees from a regional war as hordes of invaders, coming to take away everything we love.
Some people like the Christchurch shooter never got out of that rabbit hole like you or I did.
This is Earth now.I used to be one of those guys.Speaking for myself, it all came back to fucking Gamergate. My hobby was being slandered by game “journalists” and anti-Gamergate grifters. So of course I would side with whoever would say things that would reassure me and I already agree with. Along came the honeyed words of charismatic individuals like Sargon of Akkad or MundaneMatt. I was an angry 20-something, and with their pro-gater propaganda I was ripe audience for them. Naturally I got curious about their non-gamergate stuff which lead me down the rabbit hole that is the PewDiePipeline. How could I not, these guys were “on my side” of Gamergate, and thus they had to be smart individuals. Surely they must be “correct” about these other issues, right?It took years of listening to and apologizing for their alt-right proselytizing before I realized that no, these aren’t enlightened people. They are disgusting excuses for humans and I needed to stop listening to them.||On the other hand, now I listen to the likes of The Young Turks. I jumped from one end of the spectrum to the other. Christ.So if I may, Fuck Gamergate for pushing into the arms of Sargon, and Fuck Sargon for pushing me into the arms of Cenk Uygur. I am such a reactionary tool.||
