They come from different realms, depending on what type of demon they are(same can be said for faeries). Some “fly solo” so to speak, while others are loyal to and serve higher beings (such as demigods or full-blooded Gods)

No, I don’t mean angels. I do not believe that demons were ever angels. Angels are more beings of light than anything else, while demons are of different composition and have a “true form” in the sense that they have an actual shape to them. ||Yes, demons can shapeshift, but even then they have a form that they were born as and they can revert to at will. Not everything is straightforward or even near it when it comes to the supernatural. Then there’s the fact that there are names for different kinds of spirits in different cultures around the world. ||

Djinns do not necessarily serve the devil. That is an unfair generalization. Djinns possess free will and are very much accountable for their actions and they are able to do both good or evil. They live with us, in the unseen part of the world, while we live in the seen part.
 
Both djinn and man have the ability to cross to the other side but islam discourages Man to go there. Not sure what the rulings are on djinn crossing over here. Never asked one.
 
The devil Iblis is a djinn, but the title Shaytaan (deceiver) is applicable to both man and djinn. Shaytaan is anyone who follows the way of Iblis.
 
Creatures of hell stay in hell. They dont spill over to our current world. They, along with hellish angels, torture both djinn and men alike.
 
There ARE muslim djinns who don’t follow Iblis. In fact, Iblis WAS a muslim djinn before he became Shaytaan.

Djinn are also ancient beings, who can shapeshift but has true forms.
 
Fun story. A djinn took the form of a man and went around sightseeing in the marketplace (Maybe it’s a curious young spirit idk). The prophet saw him, approached him, grabbed im by the shoulder and told him “stay in this form too long and you can’t go back.”
 
So apparently they can be so invested into their act that they can potentially forget their true forms.
 
The implication that there might be djinns, stuck in human form walking around with us right now in this world, is kinda exciting.
 
If you know one who might be a djinn in disguise, maybe help them go back?
