What type of swimsuits would characters in a medieval fantasy type setting realistically wear?

Oddly enough the clothing usually resembled that of a witch.
 
Although they usually didn’t swim, they just floated.

Reason I’m asking is because I’m drawing a piece of fanart for The Dragon Prince of Callum carrying an annoyed Rayla into the water (she hates water), and I don’t realistically know what I can draw for them.
 
I can’t really draw them nude because, well, I want to keep it SFW. Also, they’re underage.
