They try way too hard to downplay the monstrousness in that one.
It has a different aim; in that universe, “monsters” are just humans with different…things. There’s even a government agency devoted to them. Heck, Sakie has a case manager because she’s a succubus.
It’s kinda treated like disabilities, in a sense. Hikari needs blood, Yuki can’t get too warm, Machi has to carry her head in her arms.
