Reading that makes me think that show might end up very different from Steven Universe.
Don’t know if it’ll be any good, regardless of how much of a rip off it is, though.
Honestly the description makes me think more like Digimon Frontier or Green Lantern.

Four main characters, distinct weapon for each of them (shield, whip, spear/wand) the same smooth lined pastel colours, space motif and candy shards that are similar to gem stones.

It has obviously been influences by SU, at least.

the line between rip-off and homage is a thin one.

usually depends on your personal stance.

though it does seem to be some sort of AT-SU crossover if you think about it (crystal gems bizarre adventure in the candy kingdom)

what other CN cartoon complemets steven universe? like how Adventure Time & Regular Show complemented each other

@OptimusPrimevil
Similar to Digimon and Pokemon. Very similar conceptually – wholly independent in their style and story structure.

Personally, from what little I can parse, I see a level of blandness and shallowness in Candy Galaxy Force without the intricate subtlety of spirit, tone and character that makes SU so compelling. An entire cast of child characters limits the potential of stories you can tell compared to beings that have literally lived for centuries. There still seems to be some heart in the Candy Galaxy Force, if only as an homage to shows the creators genuinely liked.

If it is good, it is good. Unfair to harshly judge from such a small sample.

@Turkeynomster
how did you get the blandness and shallowness part?

ok so apparently ruby is sugar’s self-insert while sapphire is ian’s.

i know both characters are female but why the different dynamic (female chooses the boyish character and male chooses the more feminine one).

what does this mean?!!
