Amazing how Tyson Hesse went from making a silly Sonic parody comic, to doing animation for the games, to working on a big Hollywood movie for the franchise.

He’s actually not the first person to go from being a fanartist to professionally working on the official franchise.  
Several artists for the official Archie & IDW comics started out as fanartists like Jonathan Grey, Jay Axer, Chibi-Jen-hen, and others.
 
Even comic writer Ian Flynn started out online working on writing stories for fan-comics, and stuff.

I wonder what other promotional merchandise the movie will have. Happy Meals? Funk POP! collectable figurines? Pez dispensers?
 
I know many hate it when a franchise “sells out,” or is capitalized/commercialized on, but if any series needs more merch’, it’s Sonic.

Boy, that took forever… Also, have any of the DIC Sonic cartoons ever aired in Japan? (I know the DK Country show did. Hence, why some Japanese SSB fans wanted K. Rool also.)

The JAKKS ones? All I can find are JAKKS Super Mario figurines in my stores, (Found Iggy Koopa, my favorite Koopaling. Though, his transparent stand blends in with the packaging too much, so I almost threw it away) and that new Sonic Monopoly Gamer board game.

The third season was never aired on TV or released on DVD in Japan due poor ratings, but was available through rental streaming services.

They may have actually changed some other things than Sonic…

Yeah, the Egg Mobile, and drones look a tiny bit different.

They aired the english 4Kids dub of “Sonic X,” but because Sonic is not popular in Japan, they didn’t air the original Japanese version there, and apparently TMS only released them online.
