Vol 7 Ep 5
And we start in RWBY’s dorm. Penny is best alarm clock.
Everyone is wearing Atlas-provided pajamas: t-shirts, sweatpants, and crew socks (the ones with the gray toes)
Also, apparently Weiss sleeps with her hair braided. I know it’s a big braid, but surely it doesn’t take THAT long to do up.
Beacon was high school, maybe college. Now Atlas is post-grad studies.
That punch sound effect of Ruby elbowing Qrow is super-out-of-place but funny.
I mean, yeah, Blake and Yang DO pair up a lot, but that’s how they trained at Beacon. I dunno if it’s different in Atlas. You can’t deny they have some killer teamwork, as shown by that badass team attack.
Jaune getting ALL the thirsty moms. Chill out ladies, he’s only like 19 years old! Nora thinks his new haircut is a HUGE chick-magnet.
This VR-like environment of stacked blocks is pretty cool.
Considering Ruby is taking the outside track vs. Harriet’s inside track, Ruby is doing pretty good at keeping up…though that’s only because Weiss is providing a helping hand by pushing her along with her glyphs. Harriet’s speed is entirely under her own power.
I know they’re not in class anymore, but Nora can’t keep falling asleep like this! Maybe Jaune needs to get her some coffee too? No, that’s actually a terrible idea.
Ha, that’s adorable. Even the really studious people like Weiss and Blake can’t keep their eyes open. Especially adorable is Blake clearly not giving a single fuck as she sprawls out over two chairs and Yang’s lap.
OMG IT’S FLYNT AND NEON! And their awesome new outfits!
And these two new characters are presumably the K and the I of FNKI.
Also, Nora riding her hammer like a rocket is simultaneously utterly ridiculous and awesome.
SURPRISE, MOTHERFER
Kobalt is his name, hmm?
And Ivori.
Hey, look, a penguin.
Oh wow, we’re getting into one of the primary complaints of the fans: Why doesn’t Penny make friends with, or even interact with, anybody except Ruby? Everyone already knows she’s a robot.
“General Ironwood says I don’t have time for friends.” well, that’s sad.
Qrow and Clover playing a card game. Do their respective Semblances affect games of chance, I wonder?
Good guy Clover. I’m really hoping he doesn’t turn out to be evil. He’s giving Qrow the professional-Huntsman-to-professional-Huntsman talk he needs.
Also, it’s apparently confirmed that Qrow has kicked (or is attempting to kick) his alcoholism habit. Good for him.
Robin Hill and sheep Faunus girl.
Clover trying to give Robin the ol’ run-around. I mean, I GET why he’s doing it (they’re on a TOP SECRET mission here), but Robin’s too sharp to be satisfied by Clover’s question-dodging.
And we return to he central theme of this Volume: Who Can You Trust? Do we let Robin in on the secret? Has she already been compromised by Watts?
Ah jeez. Screw “going through the proper legal channels”, I guess. Just take what you need through brute force.
Haha, good foresight having Penny keep a look-out for sneak-attacks from the rear.
Cloaking tech? Where’d they get those fancy toys?
SCHNEE SEMBLANCE BATTLE!
Weiss has a point: everybody always believes they’re doing “the right thing”.
So, a brightly-lit, very sterile-looking setting…I assume this is the secret hospital where the Winter Maiden is being kept.
So Winter has been “chosen” to be the next Winter Maiden by being the previous Maiden’s caretaker. That’s one hell of a responsibility.
Oh boy. Jacques may have just fomented a riot.
Vol 7 Ep 6
Yikes, it seems the riot’s already over. Though it seems Robin Hill is more popular than ever now.
”Ivy Brown”, “Pearl Wistier”. If our own voting system in the US wasn’t such a joke, I’d make some crack about how nobody ever votes for third-party candidates.
Ooh hoo, sneaky sneaky! Interrupting Winter’s glyph-casting with a tiny Summoned Knight!
God, that hammer animation is so smooth.
And dang, Jaune recovers Aura FAST.
Speaking of Oscar not discovering his Semblance yet, what was Ozpin’s again? Did each “Ozpin” have his own Semblance? Can Oscar do a One-For-All and access past Ozpins’ Semblances?
||“Tomorrow, you will be waking up to a VERY different Atlas. I need you rested and ready, for whatever that may bring.” Not ominous at all.||
Come to think of it, I don’t think we’ve EVER seen anyone do their makeup. Especially Blake, who had that rockin’ eyeshadow in past Volumes.
I don’t know, Yang, I don’t think Jacques temporarily shutting down SDC has backfire at all. He’s an asshole, but he’s not stupid. There’s SOMETHING we’re not seeing here…
A victory party? Already? Hmm, didn’t Hillary Clinton have a supposed 96% chance of winning the 2016 election? And look how THAT turned out.
So what’s this again, a rally?
I’m pretty sure Ren ISN’T this dense. He doesn’t want romance to distract him from the main goal of stopping Salem. Still, he could throw Nora a bone every so often. She wants him bad, and she knows he wants her too!
I’m liking this debate between Robin and Marrow.
Calling it right now. Big screen up there like that? Watts is gonna hack it. Make it look like Jacques won. It’s too easy. Him winning at Robin’s (admittedly premature) victory party? She’ll have so much egg on her face, you could feed breakfast to an entire army.
||Individually, we are strong. Together, we are unstoppable.* Ren seems to be taking that to heart. Maybe finally truly accepting Nora’s advances wouldn’t be such a bad thing.||
YEEEEEEAAAAHHHH BOOOIIII RENORA KISS!
And here it comes. Also, how is nobody noticing the cloaked dude with the giant robotic stinger-tail (Tyrian, of course)?
Gotta say, Watts has a certain flair with his hacking. Simply clacking away on a keyboard is too pedestrian for him.
Aaaaand we’re back to Volume 3. Where Penny gets framed. Wonderful.
Come ON, Robin, you’re SMARTER than this! Don’t go blaming Penny too!
And now Grimm.
