First impressions of the episode! MASSIVE SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY
Mantle is dirty and grungy. Very cyberpunk/noir.
Between the Jumbotrons commanding the populace to remain calm, the roving soldiers, and the patrol drones, this feels very…dystopia.
Aw crap, Winter has apparently fallen in with Ironwood’s martial law. Understandable, but it still hurts.
You can tell Qrow’s voice is different, but it’s not JARRING. I don’t mind it at all. Still sucks that Vic Mignogna got put through the wringer, but that’s neither here nor there.

And here we finally see the mine workers. Some Faunus, some not. They might all be Faunus, but since they’re sitting in a truck, we can’t really know for sure.

Though i suppose being shouted at by a drunkard PARTICULARLY hurts her, considering her past.
Is this the fabled Professor Polendina, creator and father of Penny? Also, spider-wheelchair sounds like the definition of “awesome yet impractical”.

I’m just noticing Crescent Rose has a darker paint job.
Really liking how HEAVY the shots feel. Makes them feel more like they’re actually wielding guns.

I have to say the truth: I don’t care what other people says. I’m glad Penny is back. I won’t hide it: as much I still liked the volumes after the third, EXPECIALLY the sixth one, I wasn’t a big fan of how both Pyrrha and Penny were killed off. IMO they were some of the characters with the best potential in the series, and writers decided to kill them off in favor of character growth of other characters. And while it effectively worked, I think there could have been better ways to make other characters growing than killing off other ones, let alone some with good potentials. Character growth over the death of someone you care for IMO works better when it’s the mentor of the characters who dies (Ace Attorney and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance did that and the result was great), but mere friends… I don’t know (and before someone says something: yes, ok, I know that Pyrrha’s death was always panned to happen ever since before the production of the series even started, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it). Now that Penny is back, she has her second chance, the chance of shine as character that was took from her three years ago. I said my point, think whatever you want.

Seriously. Qrow uses more-or-less the same weapon Ruby does, and he mixes up his combat style with punches.
Yes, he’s an older man compared to Ruby being a young woman, but Aura gives people super-strength and super-durability.

Uhm not to be picky, but while I do agree that Ruby is lacking in fighting without her weapon, I think people are not giving her much credit as character. I mean think about when she made that talk to Oscar in Volume 5, about taking the loss of two of her friends during the Beacon war as a motivation to keep going so not other people has to suffer, or when she fucking entered into a cannon of a robot that was about to shoot and she neutralized the cannon from the inside, or when she cleverly defeated the giant Grimm by using the time stop of the Knowledge Relic in order to have more time to clean her mind and use her silver eyes power (althought she didn’t manage to defeat it completely and the elder giant mecha pilot gave the last blow. Althought Ruby could have just slashed him from the petrified part and finishing him herself but details). I know that Ruby isn’t too much developed so far, and there is a margin of improvement, but I still think there is much potential in her and that people don’t give her much credit. This is what I think.

Robin Hill and her Happy Huntresses? Not the name I’d choose, but still, nice Robin Hood and His Merry Men reference.
Ouch. Even after all these years, Weiss is still in her father’s shadow.
Whoa. This hyper-futuristic spire is Atlas Academy, huh? I wonder if we’ll get to see Team FNKI again.
*“You have ten seconds to get those cuffs off or I start hurting you.”* Glad to know Winter is still on Weiss’ side, at least.
That scolding makes one think Winter was more of a mother to Weiss than their actual mother.
*“We have…confidential information”* “Is this about the Relics?” “Or the Winter Maiden?” Welp, cat’s out of the bag now, I guess. Also, it seems we’ll be seeing the Winter Maiden wither this Volume or the next.
”[The Winter Maiden] is not exactly a spring chicken…”_ Well, Raven, the Spring Maiden, is in her late-thirties/early-forties, so it’s not unheard of for a Maiden to be older than what “Maiden” usually implies. Still, using “stable condition” to describe her would imply she is so old, she’s on life-support.
Interesting…turning the Amity Arena into an orbiting Communications Tower. Good on Ironwood for looking forward to making improvements to the system.
[spoiler]Oh no. Oh no. Ironwood is planning on telling the world of Salem’s existence. In a perfect world, this would galvanize everyone into forming a united force against her. However, this is not a perfect world, and people are often panicky and a little dumb. I really hope this doesn’t backfire, but I imagine it’d be too easy if it didn’t.[spoiler]
*“Without Ozpin here to guide us, all I can do is use my best judgement.”* About that first bit…
Oh boy. I mean, I get WHY even Ruby isn’t telling the whole story, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this. Ironwood doesn’t need to know the sordid details of Salem and Ozma/pin’s relationship, but I’m sure he’d appreciate getting a bit of backstory on why Salem is who she is, or how the Maidens are their four daughters.
And now Ruby is hiding the last question of Jinn from Ironwood. Great.
[spoiler]“I don’t want you to think I’m keeping anything from you. Especially as important as [the Relic].” Hint, hint. It seems Ironwood is the only one who’s NOT keeping secrets.[/spoilers]

Suddenly, WATTS. What is he doing here with this mysterious briefcase and badass pimp coat? Seriously, that’s a big fur collar.
Yeesh. Kinda sad that it took a literal catastrophe like the fall of Beacon for Atlas to start thinking of upgrading its software. Unfortunately, they’ve only STARTED thinking about it; there’s still plenty of vulnerable code and backdoors for someone of Watts’ talent to exploit…
Aaaaand that’s a pool of blood. Yikes.
Ace-Ops is tall as heck. Their shortest member is 5’7”. which is average, yes, but their tallest is 6’6”!

||Regarding Ruby lying to Ironwood, it is true that it was quite hypocrite of her to not tell about Salem’s immortality, but it’s also true that the story has to keep going somehow. If she told him the truth now it would be over in one second, and also creating an inner conflict with Ruby it’s better for the character’s development ||

And somehow after finding out RWBY Chibi, I think I’m digging it even more than the main show (maybe because I’m more of a humor kind of guy. And the episodes are kinda like the Mickey Mouse shorts, and are extremely rewatchable, unlike the main show which, due to it’s one long story nature it isn’t really “rewatchable”).
