I have an idea for an AU;
Raven never left Tai. Instead, she stayed with him until she was killed by a Grimm Horde attacking the house. Yang, who survived as a baby, grew up learning how to use Raven’s sword and copies her techniques. She also looks up to Raven a lot, despite never personally knowing her due to her age.
Tai, wrought with guilt, was comforted by Summer and Qrow. The former later marries Tai as per canon and gets Ruby. Not wanting to die and leave her kids alone, Summer decided to become a teacher at Beacon Academy while Tai teaches at Signal. Ruby thus grows up learning how to fight like Tai and becomes a tiny brawler. She also has a scarf that she uses to grab things, and is far more limber and hit-and-run compared to Yang’s bulldozing fight style.
Weiss was far more rebellious than canon and decided against learning how to use a sword. Instead, she fashions herself special Dust-releasing boots that allows her to use her Glyphs and Dust with her feet. She learns how to fight with legs alone and wears metal shins as armor. She also wears a nice business suit. (Basically Steven A. Starphase from Kekkai Sensen)
Blake is… I actually have no idea what to change about her. I guess she could be a heavy sniper with a cool mechanized headwear and magnifier, kinda like Whisper the Wolf from Sonic™. She’d shoot from afar while Adam fights in close range. Though, backstory is pretty much the same.
