I’m generally ambivalent on the subject.
Brain development is often the sticking point for people when forming a non-faith based opinion. Here, the facts often get bent up a bit.
Neural development starts after about 4 weeks, but this just consists of a neural “tube” and progenitor cells.
The brain can “sense” as it were once the sensory-motor thalamocortical (TC) and corticothalamic (CT) pathways open, at around W26, around 5.5 months in. However, the associated cortexes to these pathways do not develop till sometime later.
The reasoning center of the brain, AKA what makes “you” you, develops roughly in the last 16 weeks of the pregnancy.
Everything around when/if to terminate tends to involve these milestones. Brain development starting, sensation development, and higher function development.
