okay just train up your team enough to where his Charmander is doing less damage. Also get a Rattata just in case you need a cutter and an HM slave.

I was going to catch one until I remembered that in gen 1, Oak is a stingy bastard that doesn’t give you pokeballs. Got a level 4 Nedo Female.

Oak wants you to spend the money you get from Trainers.
 
And you can fight all the trainer up to Pewter City just to tell you. So you’ll have a long time to get money and train your team.

He also wants me to complete the dex for him, and gen 1 bug catchers aren’t the most profitable trainers.

Oh I know you don’t have a lot of money from the beginning of the game too but they will help you increase your wallet and they give experience which is good for you.

Well most of the early game is spent for training anyways. So atleast you can get soe exp from those guys and you can spend all the money you currently have on Pokeballs.

Rather a lengthy/semi-lengthy tutorial that rewards you than an optional tutorial that gives you nothing as a reward.
