This picture just made me realize something. In almost all the games, the player character’s father is NEVER seen and only sometimes even mentioned!
 
Yes, in Gen3 (and its remakes) your father is the fifth Gym Leader, but it’s implied that he’s a Leader first, a father second, so it’s not that much better.
