Ah, I was confused as I’m used to people talking of the English version and Ash has had the same voice since episode 146 of the Advanced Generation series.  
And I never felt that Cilan was trying to be Brock with how different he was.

It’s our main problem in the Dubbing world here in Mexico.  
If it is not the original voice actor, or the voice is very different, its not gonna be the same and probably will get hate.

Hey, at least it’s better than sonic’s situation, the characters have gone through how many sets of voice actors over the last decade and a half?
 
 
People always hate it when the voice actors change, it alters the characters in a way, it’s certainly not unique to Mexico

Yeah, certanly is not unique.  
When the character is very popular, like Goku, Homer Simpson or Ash, the change of voice actor happen very rarely. Something really bad outside of the set should happen to make the replacement. Hell, the VA of Goku is still giving his voice to Kakarot, after more than 20 years.
 
Because those characters, the voice actors are equally popular like movie stars here in Mexico.

Hey Goku’s JApanese voice actress Masako Nozawa has been playing goku since Episode one of the original Dragonball, so Like 30 years? yeah, they pretty much become the face of the characters in a way, they’re just as important as the characters themselves, at least to a lot of fans

So I am now starting that new playthrough of X today.  
Quick summery.  
Will be looking for ideas for things to do, like mon to get, names to use, but not doing a locke.  
My normal means of naming is references and/or puns.  
My MC will be named Philip(being in a W mood lately), and I just went with Phil for the nickname.  
As I’ve used all the starters before I know I don’t mind using any of them, so anyone with an idea of the one I should pick(and a name) go ahead.

I should note, if you are going with the reference for name thing, you might need to let me know the reference.
 
Get a Froakie, name it Crunchy
 
Or get a Fennekin, name it Tim
