So I only just figured out the other day that the recurring boss/enemy Mothula is likely named after Mothra. Though Mothula has a different name in the Japanese games, so it’s likely not a case of romanization mistakes.

I got that game earlier this year. I was wary of it reusing the “Link to the Past” overworld, but surprisingly, it still has many new secrets, new story, new characters, new items, and new things, and still feels like a whole new game. It cleverly mixes familiarity with new things. Something not many games have tried.

I also think it makes more sense how the power gloves work.

Yeah. Though it’s also much easier than A Link to the Past.

In all of my playthroughs of A Link Between Worlds, I have never died once in any of them (meaning I never lost the rental items). By contrast, I died a LOT in A Link to the Past.

I don’t really mind that though.

Although when I tried Hero Mode, I died really quickly because you take 4x damage in that, and after that I gave up attempting Hero Mode and just decided to stick to normal mode.

Yeah, it was easier, but still enjoyable. “Hero Mode” is definitely for the more experienced Zelda fans.

On a similar note, I’m getting “Skyward Sword” finally from my MyNintendo discount. ($12.) Waiting for it to download to my WiiU right now. (Had to delete SSB to get. Luckily, still have my save data for SSB.)
Couldn’t get it back in the Wii days, because I didn’t have a Wii-plus remote yet.

Skyward Sword is good, yet at the same time I had a lot of issues with it that made me not want to replay it after I beat it.

Chuggaaconroy’s Let’s Play of the game was fun to watch though. Definitely learned some things about it that I didn’t know before.

Oh god, that… I liked how Chuggaa made a running gag about that at least.

At least in Twilight Princess that only happened with Rupees (and they even fixed that in Twilight Princess HD).

I don’t know, I’ve been enjoying it so far. I even enjoyed the motion controls. (Though, I kinda wish you could swing the sword while running around, like in TP, which was fun.)

Only problem I’ve had so far is executing a dash roll into a tree… I tried it so many times, I only did it once by accident, and gave up after trying again so many times.
It gets worse, once you get the sword, it’easy to accidentally do a sword dash attack making the roll move even harder to pull off.

You need to have the sword motion controls down a few hours in or else you’ll hit a brick wall. If you’re not at that spot yet you’ll definitely know it when you see it.

Skyward Sword was… not a particularly good Zelda game, IMO, but more of a motion control tech demo than anything else. Just about everything requires its use in one way or another. I played through it twice when it first came out in 2011 and really haven’t touched it much since.

When it comes to the sword, or looking around honestly it wasn’t that hard for me. (In fact, I like how you can now walk around while looking around in first person mode.) I think those who haven’t played Wii Sports, and stuff are a li’l hard on the motion controls, as honestly I like them better then the DS game touchscreen controls.
I mean you just swing it, like there’s a toy sword in your hand, instead of just pressing the B button, that’s not that hard to understand. I didn’t have to spend much time in the sword training room frankly.

It’s also kinda unfair, to just call it a “tech demo for motion controls” as the areas are quite large, it has nice new characters, a story, lots of secrets/depth/items/ect., and still feels like a Zelda game overall to me, and the developers put effort into it.

Maybe, but we’ll see.

Flying was fun too IMO. At least the game doesn’t just rely on “waggle” like some Wii games do, and actually has some effort put into the motion controls. (Let’s face it, TP’s felt kinda added in, or unnecessary. This game on the other hand, was built up from the motion concept.) I actually thought it was fun/funny to position the remote like you’re pulling it out of the pedestal when you get it.

Wanted to add… I just realized I was shaking the wrong controller piece in order to roll. While dashing, you have to shake the nunchuck piece, not the remote in order to role. lol I was doing it wrong the whole time. Silly me.

Skyward Sword introduced the stamina/dash feature which has also been utilized in “Breath of the Wild” in creative ways, which is actually a nice new underrated feature IMO. (Even though it kinda limits your climbing ability, but luckily they got around this by adding stamina fruit to the climbable vines.) Dashing is pretty good for impatient gamers.

It’s a shame I always seem to play every newer Zelda game later then everyone… (This year I also got/played “Link Between Worlds,” & “Tri-Force Heroes” for the first time, as I got them cheap brand new.) I might have to wait on “Breath of the Wild” too, as I don’t have a Switch, (or alot of room on my WiiU for the huge update required to play it.) I wonder if they’ll ever make it a discount “Nintendo Selects” game.

Truthfully, it’s much better then people said it was, and I had a blast playing it online, and with my nephews. It’s kinda like the Four Swords games.

I felt Zelda 2 Death Mountain was much tougher. Especially, all the maze caves where it was easy to get lost.
I was stuck in that area for literally years.
