I wasn’t aware of Waddle Dees being minions, or that Waddle Doos were a separate species.

Been thinking about it and I find it funny how for a time in the US kirby boxart was edited to have him with angry eyes but the boxart for every Smash Bros game, where other then the first the other characters look battle ready or serious, Kirby has his big smiling face.

I didn’t have a a Gameboy until later so Dreamland was my second/third(got it about the same time as Dreamland 2 but can’t remember the one I got first), Adventure was my first.

Actually, a few Kirby games still have him smiling on the US box.

Kirby’s First game has Kirby being White. After that Kirby is Pink.

They still are. It’s just Bandana Dee who is Kirby’s ally.

Favourite ability would have to be Yoyo or ESP for me.

My first game was Superstar AKA Kirby’s Funpack in UK.

I really, really want them to bring back the Yo-Yo ability… Heck, Planet Robobot brought back Jet and Mirror, which had both previously only been in Super Star and its remake… And Plasma’s attacks have been folded into Spark… so really, the only ability that debuted in Super Star and hasn’t reappeared since that needs to make a reappearance is Yo-Yo.

I link just one guy to this thread and suddenly there’s an explosion of activity… Nice.

Does anyone know what Marx was and why he wanted to destroy stuff?

Heck why not just fold it in with ESP. Make it the Ness copy ability, lol. XD

Fun fact kirby wasn’t officially called male in Japan until around 2007 when most people in the world thought he was male due to localization.  
[To be more exact in places such as America and Europe gender neutral terms are scarcely used especially when describing someone or some living creature since terms like it are considered dehumanizing and insulting in many cultures with Japan being one of the exceptions hence why in Japan kirby’s gender remained a mystery for a long time.]

If I remember correctly wasn’t the reason kirby was white on the American box art because of Sakurai and miyamoto disagreeing on what color he should be?

I said “for a time”, not that they all had them, newer ones have been using the same look in all areas, so he is smiling in the US if he was in Japan.  
And all before 2002 used him smiling on the US box as well.

Ironically, the US ADVERTISEMENTS for Kirby in the 90’s were ridiculously hardcore.

Nintendo had to counter Sega’s zOMG edgy “Nintendon’t” ‘90s commercials with their own “PLAY IT LOUD” ad campaign, and such.  
Yoshi’s Island is probably the edgiest, and grossest one.

The TV commercial & magazine print ads for it were quite funny.  
“Whoever calls them ‘cute’ gets a fireball in the butt!”

Oh god, the Yoshi’s Island one… I’ve never actually seen it myself, but apparently they actually had to pull the original version of the ad and replace it with a less gross version because it got so many complaints.

You’re better off not seeing it, unless you like the “Mr. Creosote” bit from Monty Python. (Which it was a nod too, it wasn’t quite as graphic, but still… Pre-chewed food everywhere…)
