Their days were numbered when Gawker went under.

Right to freedom of speech doesn’t give the right fabercate events for agenda. I’d feel no different if someone from Nichegamer was caught lying to stir up controversies for views. They couldn’t even just talk about the score in sports without making it political, and they got canned.
 
The bottom line is: The could not do their job.
 
They made their bed, they didn’t want to stop, now they can learn to code.

They not being denied work and being labeled (like they did to everyone that criticized them) horrible things without proof. No one forced them to take back-end deals and be blatant hypocrites in their articles. They’re being fired. They can go apply to other sites if they so choose.

So you wouldn’t think less of a site that hired one of these people, wouldn’t boycott them or anything of the sort, and would judge their work on its objective merits?

From what I heard, some were fired for not wanting to keep articles on topic, such as mentioned, making articles about politics in the sports sections. Then the owners roll out something and a bunch of people threw a tizzy, so they got axed.
 
Many who were know for lying look to be losing their jobs. You know, if Kotaku gets scuttled and the ones that actually cared about what they’re writing for get a job at Nichegamer, I’d be fine with that.
 
But as it stands the ones demanding sympathy are the ones not even Boing-Boing would want.

First of all they should have stuck to doing what they were supposed to do in the first place. Meaning if they were part of a gaming site they should review games and not spout political shit. The same goes for sports news sites. If they are pissed at getting the ax for not doing their job then its their fault for not doing their fucking job! Politics ruin shit especially when its heavy handed and not wanted. Period. That is why finally FINALLY this shit can end and normalcy can finally reign again. If Kotaku dies it will be because of its politicised bullshit rhetoric. There is a reason why consumer boycotts and abandonment is a thing. Piss off the fanbase enough and you lose your customer base. Eventually you go bankrupt. Walton said it best “There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else.”.

Kotaku is finally going under and that’s kinda the second best news I’ve heard this week. The first was one of my classes being canceled due to sickness.
 
These so-called “journalists” better find a new niche to destroy because no one in their right mind will hire them for video games. Actually, you know what? Maybe they should try playing video games for once. Maybe then they’d know how bullshit they sounded before.
 
Video game journalists from these kinds of sites mostly never play games. And yet, people give them the authority and platform to bash on it. This is why the ones I trust are only on YouTube, where they actually know what they’re talking about (most of the time).

They’re running out of those. The only thing left is Manga and Japan is holding strong, but it probably won’t last considering all the dumb changes Funi is making to lesser anime for no reason other then Ideology and then brag about it.
 
Hell, Polygon started bitching about Attack on Titan after the show didn’t go the way they wanted it saying it’s a “Gateway to hate” saying the write was a Nazi… And then they wonder why people cheer for their demise.

Journalism is general is having issues.
 
Over 7200 lost their jobs from the start of the year to middle of last month. Compared to some 5000 loosing their jobs in the span of 2014 to 2017.
 
BuzzFeed, Verizon, Vice Media, McClatchy, Disney, and Gannett and others had major layoffs and others are rumored to do the same. Heck from what i hear Vice News and Viceland will merge so Vice will lay off even more people now.
