they DONT have a case PERIOD. Since it STATES on their site that you can lets play and stream on youtube and elsewhere. If they go through with it… its a false DMCA because they have it on their WEBSITE of all places that players can upload on youtube and streaming sites. And if gaming on youtube goes you might as well shut the fucking place down because that is all it is currently good for besides making memes and political debates.

… I don’t get your point. “Don’t have a case period”, what, you want Jim to magically stop the DMCA claim? Mate, I think we all agree that the DMCA is bullshit, pretty sure Jim agrees too, what we’re talking about here is “we have to deal with it in a reasonable way”, you can’t just magic it away.
 
Also, don’t forget: that company does have a statement that says “you can play this and make money out of it”, but that’s not the case for most game companies. The Firewatch devs fucking jumpkicked a landmine no one wanted to touch, I’m pretty sure no one is saying they were right to do so.

Jim Sterling is the one being disingenuous because he knows the DMCA is build on nothing but moral outrage.
 
This is no different from when he was false DMCA’d yet, act like this sets a president, especially after H3H3’s lawsuit win.

But what does it have to do with Jim and the DMCA? The vid you linked is arguing that Jim doesn’t talk about the DMCA, which is a lie, so what is the actual point here. All Jim said was: “this DMCA can fuck up everything in youtube gaming”, he never says he agrees with the devs, he never says he agrees with taking down Pewdiepie’s videos…

because it’s a lie. They have no way of winning the case if Felix decided to counter-sue for the DMCA takedown. He’s trying to cause a witch hunt against Felix, by getting people angry at him. If I remember he also tried to insinuate he caused the addpocalypse which is beyond wrong, it was WSJ and their own crusade.
 
This is essentially the exact same president as his own. A dev didn’t like what he said and filed false DMCA’s to ruin him. And Honestly, this feels more like a forgotten dev trying to catch the spotlight and did it in the worst way possible.
 
The way they act is they just seem jealous of PewDiePie’s fame, they try to say everything bad that happened is somehow directly his fault. It’s just petty the way they’re acting. They made this so overblown.

Remember the YouTube economic crisis ? Aka the adpocalypse ? That was indirectly cause by pewdiepie when he made poor people write “death to all Jews” on a sign

So I just watched this video  
and Sargon brings up an interesting point; This isn’t the first time he’s said the word, but for some reason, now the mainstream press cares.

In fact I don’t remember seeing any press report on this  
It was netizens, shitposters and people who found his shit offensive who reported first, and then it spread like wildfire on social media as many many people found him offensive  
And of course people would take notice it now, he has a much much bigger audience than before and much more impressionable ones at that

@Commune actually, reducing them to the level of schoolyard insults would probably work, it’s just that this one word in particular has so much from all quarters riding on it remaining ‘the ultimate putdown.’  
Even with the whole ‘re-appropriation’ thing, you could see it getting special treatment, like when these white rappers started coming out they’re all like “whoa boy, you can’t use that, that’s our word!”  
Barely anyone would’ve cared if he used “chink” or “wop” or “gook,” or if he donned a rice hat and started changing all his Ls to Rs, since that’s been a characteristic of ‘rough’ characters in fiction no matter where they landed politically.  
both major camps have a bit of a sunk cost philosophy about its use, it’s an interesting phenomena all to itself.
 
@Commune More like it was just a convenient excuse for an organised assault on monetisation. And because the WSJ has alternate funding methods than just the news/magazine, they plucked the short straw in running it.  
They were probably searching for an ‘angle’ to ‘deal with youtubers’ ever since the likes of Rebel and TYT came about.  
WSJ wasn’t being SJW, they were being paid hitmen. Likely by a news org that wouldn’t survive the backlash.

Welp, we’ll see what Pewdiepie does. As a flagship youtube, he’s got a lot of pressure… If he doesn’t fight it will become a sign for companies to take down more and more vids (sometimes out of political stances), if he does fight it and it goes to court there’s the chance he loses and could signify the end of “let’s plays”. Though, chances are he wins in this case, since company gave express permission. Fucking idiot devs… Lose lose situation for them.
 
Though, seeing how youtube is shafting gaming channels by making everything non-monetizable, there’s a good chance gaming on YT just disappears all together, maybe move to a new site or become Twitch exclusive.
