I like the new She-Ra design though. It makes her look younger, hippy and more alive in a sense. Like a rebellious teenager.

Seems more like they picked the worst possible angle that highlights her jawline in addition to the lack of detail and definition in the artstyle. Too early to make any sweeping judgements from just a couple of still images. The reaction from everywhere are overblown, even if there is an understandable worry that the series will follow the same fate as other franchises that decided to pander to progressive politics.
 
There are better reasons to criticize the art, such as how it looks plain, static and flat, rather than how it promotes a supposed social agenda. I’m more bothered that they removed flamboyant Freddy Mercury from the series.

The other first look pics and the defense for it, don’t give it much confidence.
 
I’ve seen some calling critics pedophiles, it’s that absurd.
 
There’s a lot of projection to them and you’ll find a lot of defense on Twitter share a lot in common. I’d say it comes from who is making it, rather then who it’s made.

I am cautiously optimistic, even if my expectations are low. The usual “MRA, incel, alt-right etc.” flurry of insults against detractors does leave me worried how the ““discourse”” surrounding the series is going to be like, no matter if it gets good or bad ratings.
 
I can already see opinions lambasting the series for not being progressive enough or blaming 4-chan trolls on the bad ratings; I’d like to be wrong just once in that prediction. The predictability of it all is tiresome to witness each and every time.

There’s a good chance you won’t be. They can even show anyone saying it.  
And again, we see them erasing the complains of women who are the ones that I seen the most outraged over the Nu She-Ra.  
That’s the biggest tell like I mentioned in my previous.
 
I’m kind of hoping it gets lambasted. Pandering to the never pleased is always great popcorn material.
 
One thing is, I’m just preying they don’t find and want to reboot BraveStarr. PLEASE! Don’t let them find Bravestarr!

In my opinion, most reboots are garbage. Don’t ever ask for a reboot. It will only bring you sadness.

I’m a pro as well. I never thought game journalists were that good at their jobs far before GamerGate, and the anti side had no legitimate arguments, so it was an easy decision (that took over a month to make since I was holding out that anti-GamerGate had some sort of point to make).

I’m not pro or anti gamer gate. I just can’t take anyone that calls themselves a “journalist” seriously.
 
For learning about videogames or which ones I might want to purchase and play, I watch a Lets Player play a videogame on Youtube. They are probably some of the better advertising games get these days.

 
For something she loves to be destroyed by the very beast she created… its poetry in its purest form.

Isn’t it quite amusing to see how the tamers are becoming the ones to be tamed after they lost control of the beast they have created?
 
Only downside to this is that we’d be the ones burdened with the task of cleaning up after their mess once they’ve been devoured by their own filth.

I meant to mention this a while back: ‘Last Jedi’ Director Rian Johnson is a big fan of John McIntosh and is using gamergate to scapegoat the fan reaction to his movie. Saying GG needs to be “better known” because it “explains so much of what we are seeing”
 
Presumably it’s the basic “blah blah, manbabies not accepting change and electing DRUMPF” nonsense.

I dont hate it but I see the things people harp on: her hair is kind of a Gallant Boy Cut with long hair added to the back of it in the stills I have seen.
 
She does have the V-chaped body to a degree.
 
But I do think the flush and freckled face does exactly what you described too
 
IF there wasnt a plague of CalArts androgyny targeting women in particular… people likely wouldnt care. It’s been swept up into a larger debate

It really isn’t “to a degree”, it’s literally the proportions of a man’s torso and shoulders.
 
It’s like the dude that designer her doesn’t know basic anatomical differences between males and females. Or he/she/they/it/heliself does and did it on purpose, but what are the odds of that?

That is the shoulder-to-hip ratio difference between men and women. Note that men have much wider shoulders, v-shaped torsos, and there’s a longer length before the shoulder starts drooping, as well as less curvier thighs.
 
 
And that is something I threw together to show the proportions of the new design of She-Ra.

And based on those diagrams, the shoulder-hip ratio (blue lines) seems to be on point with a woman’s. It’s even as curvy if you only take the chest and frontal abdomen.
