It’s not about the war. I was using that as an example.
 
It’s about the human race. It’s part of our instincts. We were literally born with it. It’s a survival measure we have that can only be overcome through knowledge and a bit of courage.
 
You know what makes humans so great? The fact that they can override their natural instincts if they wanted to. No other animal would do that. Animals run away from danger but humans? We run towards it.
 
I’m trying to explain human nature here.

I guess it’s hard for me to understand because I’ve never thought like that.
 
I grew up in a fairly diverse city, went to school with kids of all races since a young age, you know… seeing people who looked different from me was always “normal.” So I guess it’s a little hard for me to wrap my brain around someone who sees someone of another race in a game or movie and flips out over it, like it’s an affront to human decency or something.
 
I dunno, racism is just kind of alien to me. I understand that it exists, but I don’t really “get” it.

Most aren’t “flipping out” over it though, they’re mostly getting annoyed of this faux-diversity over a character’s skin color then the character themselves.
 
The only people that flipped out over it are the ones that did over Scarlet Johansson playing the lead in Ghost in the Shell and Iron Fist being played by a white guy.

Hey, you and me both. Even then, I sometimes see racism. It’s quite common but rarely anything bad.

Most of it is overblown, especially now since there are literally jobs that depend on racism to even exist.
 
The world has become highly radicalized in the last few years. People are being taught they’re victimized because of their race while others demonized.

This please. The reason so many other “sensitive” threads were closed is precisely because they go completely off topic and devolve into unrepentant shitposting. This is an interesting discussion, let’s not drown it in general politics.

How is the very presence of other races “faux-diversity” though?
 
I ask this: If you don’t need a “reason” for a character to be white, then you don’t need a “reason” for a character to be anything else. I should be able to make a game/movie/show/etc. with characters of different various races without people demanding I justify the inclusion of those races.
 
The only justification I need is this: In real life, different races exist, so I want to capture that by having more than just one represented in my work.

People complain about it even if it’s set in modern-day America.
 
Heck, look at any humanization of the mane six that dares to include even one non-white character and you’ll see tons of comments decrying it for “forced diversity.”
 
These are people who see white as the default, and anything else as a deviation that has to be justified in order to exist.

Whites are technically a minority in the global population. They’re just more exposed to everywhere due to advances in technology and government.

@Whatevs It’s not radical to defend yourself from bolshevism. What’s radical is cobbling that together with an unrelated (and as any true historian could tell you, exceptionally nationalist) group. That was the moment they went wrong.
 
 
@HJSDGCE Also the whole colonialism thing, lel. Unless you’re putting that under ‘government’ too, but just dropping it in cuz most people seem to forget! That tends to be ‘why they’re everywhere’
 
@Cyborg_pony The Johansson thing was super-weird to me because it’s a fake body in the first place. Never expected to see “complaining about things you don’t know” coming from the side defending a work. (Also Kusanagi states at least twice in the tv series she prefers that body to ‘one that would allow her to blend in better’ or however the phrasing went)
 
Has there ever been another incident like that? I can’t seem to recall one.

There were people mad about Dr. Strange not having enough Asians, even though the only ones that weren’t were Baron Mordo and the Ancient one. If that’s what you mean.
 
Personally, I think they could of casted them better. James Hong could have been a good Ancient one.

My hope, they turn Mordo evil. Like REAL EVIL! not make him some sympathetic villain, that ain’t Mordo. Mordo loathed Strange for becoming sorcerer supreme over him.

It seems that a lot of people are turning against Anita because she turned out to be a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist). So… good for them, frankly.

Even though, his race barely factors into the equation. Then of course saying you like other black characters just makes you MORE RACIST! because you only like them because of their skin is a token to get out of racism.
