Well, once again, some friends and family asked me that if I were to get a gun for my upcoming birthday, what would I get.
My answer: An AK-74/74M-style rifle.
And as much as I love the classic wood finish on Kalashnikov rifles, living in Alaska for most of my life has led me to favor things that I consider to be practical modifications, such as:
- Left handed charging; just something simple that would allow me to keep my trigger hand on the grip.
- Rails for a few accessories that actually serve a purpose, like a tactical light or optics (low light conditions occur most months out of the year this far up north).
And while I’m fine with a solid stock, an adjustable side-folding stock would be good for my car.
