General Anime Thread

Kaguya-sama ep 11. We got to be in Hayasaka’s head ep a bit, which I enjoyed. It would seem I was wrong about her being a secret gyaru. She doesn’t let her guard down even when she’s alone, so I think that implies the gyaru is the act, and she’s herself when she’s with Kaguya. We also got to meet Chika’s sisters for a tiny bit. Wouldn’t mind more of them.
 
The after-credits bit with Kaguya was nice. I have been in her situation, where you feel blessed in some aspects, so you feel guilty about wanting more. Where you feel it’s your duty to maintain the status quo, so you deny yourself any growth. I can see people not feeling sad for her or feel like it wasn’t totally earned, but I liked it.
 
 
Endro ep 11. Much better. Very fun and wholesome. Hopefully it won’t end with them just losing their memories again.

How is it Kaguya sama did a seven minute short on eating ramen and made it so entertaining?

Yeah, I think this show needs a happy ending. I’d hate for them to betray all the development its characters got.

Is it weird that I like Kaguya-sama a lot more as a drama than a comedy?

Nah. It does drama well.
 
Also, people who don’t feel sorry for her have no heart.

It really does and it would be a big waste as well in terms of their development.

I’m starting to think Kaguya sama is the third best anime I’ve ever seen

Apparently in the manga there was a scene where Ishigama gave Fujiwara gum cause of the garlic breath. They skipped that.

 
I relate to Kaguya because I was neglected as a child.

A little early but here is my Spring 2019 preseason watch list. Relatively few titles caught my eye this season. As always, will keep my eye on reviews and suggestions from the right people.
 
Fruits Basket 2019: “No matter how cold winter gets, spring will always come.” A remake of a classic, and I have no reason to think it wouldn’t hold up.  
One Punch Man S2: Good direction can triumph over production issues.  
Strike Witches 501 Butai Hasshin Shimasu: The war on pants continues…  
Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san: Foxgirl waifu anime.  
Carol and Tuesday: Music anime. Might be set in space, I dunno.  
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine: Cute girls playing baseball.  
Joshi Kausei: The manga has no dialogue.  
Sarazanmai: Kappa anime? Getting hyped by sakuga community.  
Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki: Slice-of-life anime tourism bait.  
Senryuu Shoujo: School club anime.  
Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu: Girl with severe social anxiety is tasked with befriending her entire class. What could go wrong.

High Guardian Spice: Does it air next season? I’m not genuinely enthusiastic about it, but I’ll watch it for science.  
Shoumetsu Toshi: The premise does not interest me but it has an all-star voice cast.  
Fairy Gone: Fairy soilders.  
Nade Koko ni Sensei ga: High-contrivance Age-Gap ecchi.  
Araiya-san! Ore to Aitsu ga Onnayu de: Another ecchi show. Not sure if Age Gap.  
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai: A guy tutoring dumb girls, or something.

Looking at those shows, only a few really caught my eye as well.
 
Fairy Gone, Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, Carol and Tuesday and Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine are the ones that look interesting, aside from One Punch Man Season 2 and Fruits Basket 2019.

I really wish Cygames would animate Orchis and Zwei’s story.

KOTOBUKI ep 11. So, fighting over holes is a metaphor, right? Anyway, another wild ep. Kyrie questioning their own motives right as they start their mission was a nice moment. Reona’s defensive answer was expected, and I hope they address it next ep.
 
I bet you go through the hole and it’s the GuP universe and you see giant school ships.
 
 
Manaria Friends ep 10. Pleasant end to a pleasant series. Would’ve liked a more decisive conclusion, they didn’t need to be coy with how the leads’ future looks. But it’s yuri, so yeah, it ain’t doing that.

New KOTOBUKI was awesome. Can’t wait for finale.

I’m certainly looking forward to the finale for Kotobuki, same for Neverland and Endro.

KOTOBUKI episode 11 was fantastic: massive air war, exposition via dogfight, all the side characters showing up, and a Shinden in Crimson Skies livery. This finale is going to be awesome.
 
And now that Isao has that Shinden, clearly the only solution is for Kylie to get her own ‘1946’ prototype super-fighter…
