Renge is certainly the best character in Non Non Biyori. She’s like a proto-Kanna, just not a dragon and actually loli-aged.

Kotomi is truly a goddess of comedy.
 
I’m finished with her route in the VN and started After Story. With that, I’m ready to fully watch the anime (at least the first one). While I watched more of it, I came to an awful realization: I’ll have to watch Kotomi’s breakdown again. Animated. With the same voice acting, that was so great that it made the scene really hard to stand in the VN. And what should I say, it was just as hard to watch as I thought it would be (although without sound, it’s less effective, of course).
 
But having finished episode 12, I’m past that now. But then I’m realized that in the next episode I’ll have to watch a flashback of little Kotomi learning about and dealing with the death of her parents again. Animated. With the same voice acting, that was so great that it made the scene really hard to stand in the VN.
 
Boy, this will be FUN.

Interestingly enough, I’m watching it at the moment (just finished episode four) and I honestly am finding it quite enjoyable (as well as rather amusing).

If Ghostfacekiller is watching Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, how did he not mention THIS scene?!

That scene honestly had me cracking up without oblivious Kanna is to Riko having a crush on her.

Visually the anime is nothing short of breaktaking, being extremely vivid and bright.
 

 
And it’s just got such a sweet atmosphere. It’s warm and cozy, like being wrapped up in a winter blanket while drinking something hot while it’s snowing outside. It’s a bit of a cheesy romcom, which is pretty much all romcoms anyway, but my god is it a fantastic romcom.

But seriously, if you say it’s similar to Toradora but even better, then I GOTTA watch it! As soon as I’m done catching up on LWA, Demi-Chan, Dragon Maid, and Kore wa Zombie desu ka (which I didn’t think I would enjoy, but actually do).

I think I’ll take a break from Clannad. I’m not going to claim that it drained me emotionally, but it sure burned me out quite a bit. The fact, that I saw one of the hardest scenes both in the VN and anime on the same day, is probably not helping. And since I’m relatively close to the end (but also still pretty far away), there’s no pressure to rush things.
 
Also, I just attempted to watch Kemono Friends. I couldn’t even finish half of the first episode. The CGI is probably not as bad as it could be, but still far from good and the animation is way too awkward way too often. The odd off-looking character faces are not helping. This would be okay for a short anime (I did watch quite a bit of SEGA Fanservice: The Animation), but for a series with full-length episodes, it’s unbearable.

I keep finding series I need to pick up and I’m having trouble setting a course for how I’m going to watch them, so this sort of sucks tbh
 
I’m probably going to try and wipe my currently watching list down as much as possible. There’s too many seasonals I’ve picked up this season and its really making my watch schedule cluttered as fuck compared to last season where everything was much easier to manage.
 
I might end up doing a thing where I cap the amount of seasonals I watch and then pick up other ones that interest me after they’re done airing, because really, the Winter season has been great for me but its a pain in the ass to try to keep up with it all and I keep falling behind in everything.

not all of them are good references though, namely the Henouji one, which feels kind of forced as fuck xD
 
Also reminds me that Mayo Chiki did OreImo and Haganai references.
 
OreImo didn’t do either though, the snotty twat :V They just didn’t respect the amount of fan cross-love between the three series I tell ya.
 
I’ve seen all of these but two, so I need to get those two series down pat soon.

I dunno, picking up too many seasonals at once feels like a mess to me. It’s hard to keep up with everything and watch things that’ve already finished airing.

Oddly enough, in Haganai Relay it makes a ton of mecha references as well. Like 15 or 20 in the span of 2 minutes.
 
Albeit it’s just taking those mecha references and using them in a way to weave together a gay sex scene between two giant robots, so I dunno if it’s really the same. Like, the whole drill things in TTGL is used as “drilling,” in that scene, if u kno wat I mean.
 
There’s an OreImo reference and a Mayo Chiki reference within the series itself as well, but that’s about as far as the referential stuff goes, really. Less than 5 percent of the humor is referential and its mostly just contained to other H/E stuff, which honestly, modern LN-adapted H/E anime like all of those series cross reference each other quite a bit so eh. I just haven’t seen it done to that extent before.
