Hitoribocchi ep 2. I admire the audacity of that girl who brought an eye mask to class.
Anyway, another perfectly pleasant and adorable episode, even better than the premiere. I liked Nako protecting Bocchi, realizing the emotionally vulnerable position Bocchi is in by opening herself up to people. But I also feel like the relationship is mutually beneficial, like Nako values Bocchi’s friendship as much as Bocchi values hers. I also like this show doing character development in small steps, not in one big swoop.
This show is very good at adding small details to add life to mundane scenes (see: attached screenshot), and just enough nuance to its characterizations to make them feel multidimensional. A lot of CGDCT shows don’t do these, favoring “bigger” scenes that people can meme and repost everywhere. I’m pretty confident that this gets what a slice-of-life anime should be about.
