I thought them being genderless but obviously female was to have the show not be cancelled early when they started showing the lgbt stuff like if a soccer mom or homophobe complained they can always just say their genderless and therefore not lesbians which if Rebecca sugar thought about this issue when creating Steven universe then she’s pretty smart.

That depends on how long the show lasts. We’ve already seen moonshadow elves, sunfire elves, and at least one startouch elf (Aaravos). In the new season, I know we’re going to see at least one skywing elf, based on the leaked screenshots.
 
There are presumably elves for each of the six primal sources.

Both of them were attracted to and dated the same guy for Celestia’s sake. They were romantic rivals… who then got together with each other in the end. Still, by calling them lesbian I feel counts as bi-erasing. We need to acknowledge bisexual characters, even if they are currently or end up dating someone of the same sex.
