Don’t care for Family Guy myself. But it is close to if not the highest rated show on the network, so it’s a big loss for them.

Wonder how they’re gonna shuffle the lineup to compensate.

I just realized last month marked the 30th anniversary of Gizmo-duck’s first appearance on Ducktales.

He’s one of the few characters the reboot didn’t completely fuck up.

It’s hard for me to feel it’s done the cast justice. With the main characters:

The nephews are now even brattier with numerous Designated Hero moments. It really says something when self-admitted jerk Louie gets the least of these
Webby is now an irritating flawless ace who’s right about everything and shoved into the viewers’ faces to the point that it actually redeemed 1987 Webby for me since at least she could make mistakes and wasn’t in 90% of the series
Launchpad’s now too dumb to live, so much that I can non-ironically use DBZ Abridged’s “how do you function?” quote to describe
Scrooge is turned into a failure hero despite the show gushing about about how he’s an amazing adventurer because who needs consistency
In the case of characters they did improve like Mrs. Beakley the show just likes to pretend they don’t exist.

Between those and how Scrooge and Donald aren’t even the real protagonists in this show, it really feels like I said on the main discussion, that this was going to be some show about a bunch of generic kid characters and have nothing to do with the Disney Ducks name, with them only slapping the Ducktales name on it for recognition.

I think he’s probably the same person who is always complaining about the new Ducktales cartoon.

Pretty much obvious. I mean, no one else here truly hates the show.

Counterpoint:

The kids have more personality. They’re also not a bunch of goody-two shoes because no one likes those kinds of characters. For once, there’s a distinct difference between each of them, not like clones in the original.

Webby isn’t so girly girl who’s useless at almost everything anymore. She’s competent, skilled and crazy. Her main weakness (which is a good thing btw) is her lack of social skills and her idealized view of the world. Basically, she’s the most naive character in the series.

Scrooge is the failure hero and one might think it’s inconsistent, but the thing is, we’re comparing how the world sees Scrooge (the hero) and how Scrooge sees himself (the failure). These are separate factors and shouldn’t even be put on the same table.

Donald is more responsible in this series, which is rare because most of his animated appearances has him being the cause of problems. Instead, he’s mature and trying to solve other people’s problems instead of making more. This shows a more grown-up Donald and I like it.

Honestly the worst thing I can say about Ducktales is it’s… ok. The characters are good but nothing spectacular, they haven’t done anything terribly wrong but there’s nothing really memorable, the voice acting is great but there’s no performance that really stands out as exceptional (except Don Cheadle’s Donald)…

The best is very entertaining, the worst is pretty boring. It’s firmly mid tier for me, which is disappointing as I really wanted to love it.

It was in the same episode.
I see. This is because my past experiences with the SMBSS were very limited to what I’ve watched compared to the SMB3 and SMW cartoons.
I’m aware. Most opinions I’ve heard said that Captain N is the worst video game cartoon that DiC has made.
Yeah, it is clear that Doug Walker is not a hardcore or dedicated gamer. He has even admitted that later in his “Are video games art?” video. But still, no excuse to not do research. However, (I’m gonna lose points off my gaming knowledge cred for this) didn’t the instruction booklet for SMB1 confirm that Bowser’s name was Bowser and not King Koopa, or was that for SMB3’s instruction booklet?

Yeah I saw that video as well. His jokes at trying to make the main characters look like shit were more annoying than the actual characters in the movie.
Very much. Heck, Rock-a-Doodle wasn’t even part of my childhood but when I watched it after watching the NC talk about it, I didn’t think it was as bad as he made it out to be. Maybe if he tried looking for some good qualities for future things he reviews but god forbid, then we wouldn’t have more of those hilarious skits! sarcasm
VERY IRONIC. He is one to talk when it comes to talking about Adam Sandler’s movies. Those reviews really make him look hypocritical.

He was called both Bowser, and “devil king Koopa” confusingly in the original manual, I recall.
NOA apparently mistranslated him as “King of the Koopa,” misunderstanding “koopa” thinking it was his species rather then his name, so they called the shell turtles “koopa” instead as a result, and it kinda stuck sense.

As for “Captain N,” I admit it was a highly innaccurate game cartoon, but I wouldn’t say it’s the worst, as it’s still enjoyable, and it’s bad moments are kinda a “so bad it’s good” quality. It’s not the worst DiC game cartoon either, that would probably be the failed Battletoads pilot.
Surprisingly, the original SatA.M. Sonic the Hedgehog is considered their best game adaptation, which is funny given Sonic’s bad reputation in the gaming fandom.

I actually like “Rock-a-doodle” as a kid. I admit, it’s rather weird looking back on it, and I admit it’s not one of Don Bluth’s best, but it’s still pretty enjoyable, has good animation, and has that quirky, dark-yet adorable charm Don Bluth movies have. Plus the villain was so hammy, and enjoyable.

But yeah, the Nostalgia Critic is getting too negative recently, (and his skits kinda distract from the reviews frankly) you can still make a positive review about something, and still be funny, or even make some negative criticisms while doing it. I wonder why nobody does that.
It annoys me how almost every modern humor satire critic has to be negative about everything. Even the AVGN isn’t always like that, and surprisingly wasn’t that negative about the controversial Shadow the Hedgehog game. (And IRL James the AVGN actually likes “CV2:Simon’s Quest” despite it’s flaws.)

Sweet F.A.
So, I’ve been thinking and I have some serious questions about the future of The Dragon Prince:

I was thinking that the plot would revolve around Callum, Rayla, and Ezran taking the dragon egg (later hatched, now Axymondias, the baby dragon prince) to Xadia, and that the series would conclude upon their arrival in Xadia; however, it seems as though I overestimated how far Xadia was. As of the season two finale, they’re already in Xadia (albeit without Ezran). So what’s the rest of the show going to focus on? Maybe restoring the world and ending the war will be a lot harder than just returning Zym? I mean, I can only assume it’s not going to end now–the show is supposed to last six or seven seasons, I think?

Hmm. And between the two, DiC went with King Koopa?

I’m not surprised that Sonic SatAM is considered DiC’s best video game cartoon.

I had an unhealthy obsession with that movie many years back before MLP. If you want to see pure cringe, go to my DA gallery and look at my earliest work. My Rock-a-Doodle stuff awaits.
Yup. Gotta love the Grand Duke of Owls.

I guess its more difficult to be funny while talking about something positive. This is why Pan Pizza of RebelTaxi is my favorite reviewer as of now.
Well, that’s because the AVGN has never played any of the modern Sonic games when he was doing his Christmas request wishlist. But I know his segment about Shadow possibly stroked the egos of many anti-Modern Sonic fans.

@icey wicey 1517
Sorry about that. We were talking about one of the Nostalgia Critic’s cartoon related episodes so I thought that would be more fitting here.

Actually, there were a few SMB3 cartoon episodes where his full name was basically “King Bowser Koopa.” So they did regard his first name.

Still, there are some whom dislike the Sonic cartoon for not being enough like the games, or feel it’s too 1990s style. Some things about it haven’t aged well, but I still enjoy it.

The Grand Duke (voiced by Christopher Plummer) was a hoot, but I like how despite his comical/hammy moments he was still shown to be quite a evil villain with a rather dark side. Like he’s not above hurting a child.
I love villains that are both kinda goofy, and creepy.

To be fair, the AVGN isn’t anti-modern Sonic, he just hasn’t kept up with the series.
