Renamon is a species and the the individual people fawn over and feminize specifically said Digimon are genderless.

This is Renamon. Her name comes from the French word “Renard,” aka “Fox”.

It gets more confusing when you remember an episode where one of the Devas (Vajiramon) openly stated he considered Renamon as a very attractive Digimon and asked her to be his mate, and then you have V-Mon’s (absurdly short) crush on Gatomon.  
And yes, I do remember when one of the chosen kid’s moms complimented Renamon for her elegant female shape, only to be told that Digimons really don’t have a concept for genders because they are just data.

Digimon is just weird like that. One of the reasons why the anime never allowed Gatomon to evolve into her Mega form is because her final evolution is a goddamn giant dragon called Holydramon, and her special attack is called “Apocalypse”, which triggers exactly that and only can be used once, because there’s no more world after that.

Both series have a lot of Mons that have drastically different designs. Not to mention they have a lot of human characters that get a lot of focus as well, so that’s probably while they get less people willing to call those fans furries.

I like Renamon (both the Tamers character and the species) but it’s not my number 1 favorite. That spot goes to Gomamon.

I’ve seen Guilmon and Garurumon (and other members of its family) get sexualized plenty. Even some of the humanoid male Digimon like Angemon get porn too.
 
Digimon (and Pokemon) have quite a bit of bara art to be quite honest.

Yeah, it kinda does get confusing. I just more or less like the idea of them not having any concept of biological sex but may still be capable of having romantic relationships as well as them possibly choosing a gender if they so want to.
