“hengst” is the German word for “stallion”. As far as I understand it, it’s used to replace the “were” in “werewolf” because that’s an Old English word for “man” (as in man and woman, specifically – the general term for humans was “mann”, funnily enough) so because Old English and German are a lot alike, and because “were-pony” ends up meaning “man-pony” (plus it doesn’t mesh with how werecreature names are generally used – werebear, werecat, wereboar, etc. are all understood as humans who turn into the second part of their names), that’s evidently how some users years ago chose to translate “man-wolf” into “stallion-wolf”.

Oh, hmm. That’s interesting. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about that from a tagging standpoint. On one hand we have technical accuracy and probably good reason for it.

On the other hand, the purpose for the tag is super not obvious to an outsider. Also etymology is funny in that it gets lost over time. That is, the were- prefix to most people is more like a transformation tag than anything. The were- itself doesn’t really mean much outside of that.

Anyways. I’ll have to poke at that tomorrow and see how consistent the two have been kept, maybe do some cleanup.

Nah, really. Don’t worry about it. I used to do a ton of this back in the day, this is like my bread and butter. And when other people compile sensible no brainer lists like this it makes my job that much easier, so I really do appreciate it.

I’m actually going to hold off on implying these because I wanted to make a thread about it first. If you’d like to give your input I posted it here.

All the others in your post are done, plus a few extra implications that were also applicable.

winged rabbit

By the way, if robot counts as a species, does cyborg? It’s more of a denotation of mechanical implants or augmentation rather than anything else, but I’m curious.

@Damaged
All done. I just implied swarm pony to superorganism, even though there’s only 2 posts. It seemed like the right thing to do. And I went ahead and implied cyborg too. It fits more as a species tag most of the time, so I’m fine with it (same as robot and golem).

@rannius
That’s actually a species swap tag, so I’ll add the implications for you but I’m gonna leave off the species tag, since it’s half-species half-character doesn’t really work either way.

@mjangelvortex
Longma is from chinese mythology, half horse half dragon. It’s kind of mostly ponified here though because of thems fightin’ herds, but probably not enough to automatically tag it pony. As far as horse the tag should pretty much be used for traditional horses, as opposed to show style. Doesn’t really fit well in either of those.

I’ll go ahead make both a species and add the dragon and hybrid implications though for both, and pony for the other.

As for smooze as a species tag I don’t think it really fits. You can’t really make a smooze character that’s not the smooze. It’s too abstract to really make into other species, so-to-speak.
