Artist tags of the form “artist:php[numbers]” are used when an artist wants their name separated from some or all pictures, but still allows the pictures to be on the site and associated together under an anonymized tag. (I think it stands for “perpetually hidden pony”)

Now, in the case of the one you wrote about, I hoped that maybe they’d reversed course on a past anonymization request, since I didn’t notice any clear pattern for the ones under a php tag (like rating, or period of time). And, as you pointed out, it wasn’t exactly a thorough anonymization, with the sources still indicating the artist and the retagging visible in the tag changes. But, the php requests, their reasons, and the requirements (such as eliminating sources or not) aren’t shared with non-moderators (I’m not one) and the deletion of your post indicates the php-ization is still in effect.

Back to the point, generally, artist:php[numbers] aren’t to be discussed.
