As usual, the real answer is much more convoluted.
tenebris-funduction is really the publishing hub for “TenebrisDawn”, a comic created by the artists
drewthefan123,
fanartbr,
androgynousgarbage,
mikeilo,
neridanixie, and
elusev, and, periodically,
dawneastpoint
drewthefan123 is writing the story, but appears to periodically also create artwork which is attributed to
tenebris-funduction.
In general, tags on our site, or on other sites, are not used as evidence that two different artists are the same person. It’s far to easy for situations like this to occur, where some aggregation point ends up being mistaken as the “artist” themselves, or images might be mistagged due to reposting, human error, or even intentional vandalism or outright art theft.
Instead, we look for validated galleries that have the same content, and links between galleries created by the artist themselves.
Sometimes artists upload other artist’s work to their galleries, sometimes collaborations are miscommunicated or only hinted at, sometimes collaborations get expressed almost as if they were a third artist when in fact there’s one actual artist who retains the copyright and a producer who is helping that artist get online.
There’s a lot of things that can happen that can result in what you’ve described.
And, in a lot of cases, where things like this are not clear, I or other volunteers spend hours or even weeks researching who is actually behind a particular image. If all else fails, I reach out to the artists involved and ask if they are, indeed, the same person. That can sometimes take months to resolve.
This is one of those. I’ll be working on this mess for quite a while, not least of which because figuring out how to express the artists as a collaborative is not something I’m sure we have a way of tagging … there are some precedents for this kind of thing but finding the right mix with this particular collection of artists might take some sleeping on to get right.
Like, maybe I’ll make the comic a new tag and add the collaborative’s information to the description of that tag. Maybe something else. There’s tools for handling this, I just need to lay them out and look at their edges to make sure I pick one that’s sharp enough.
Either way, it seems that there’s some very good art here that is worth expressing on this site.
So … long story short, nice find, but this is going to take quite some time to sort out.
