But Clio, Megane and Twingo are seemingly more popular, artists are already using those names, like Capt Hoers. It’s just that some people don’t like the fact they’ve ended up being named after a trio of French hatchbacks because one of them has a cutie mark that is a baguette, but I think they’re better than the other completely unrelated names. But what’s democracy, eh?

Those names don’t feel correct for the setting. At least the generic names blend in to the environment.
 
Also, Twingo, I’ve got to take issue with that one because it’s distractingly silly.
 
& Megane meaning glasses in Japanese would probably cause too many questions, & considering it’s apparently pronounced like Megan, I’m personally not a big fan of ponies having names too much like the main humans of G1.

There are loads of different names in the setting though, Megane and Clio are basically girls names and Twingo sounds no more ridiculous than Zipporwhill or whatever that actual pony in the show was. Literally anything works as a name in the show, it doesn’t have to be “Noun Adjective” or “Verb Adjective”, names like these are more interesting and creative, and if people like them what’s wrong with that?

At least give ‘em something more, like a second part. When ponies have human names, they tend to have two parts like Babs Seed, Lyra Heartstrings, & Pony/Doughnut Joe.
 
& Twingo doesn’t sound like a female’s name if it need to be applied as a name.
 
It’s a bit more ridiculous to name the pegasus Twingo than it was to name Zipporwhill Zipporwhill since Zipporwhill is a portmanteau of “zip” & “whippoorwill”, referring to her zippyness in her first appearance & to a type of bird. The pegasus from “Hard to Say Anything” didn’t seem to have anything to do with twists or tangos.
 
They don’t have to be named “Noun Adjective” or “Verb Adjective”, but we should strive to come up with something better than names straight up just lifted from cars I never heard of. At least alter them a bit or something.

Or at least an appropriate/taken-from-details-of-the-pony stupid name like Jamie Baguette or whatever. ‘Cause now that I think about it, human named ponies still tend for the human name to factor into a pun, theme, or wordplay concerning the pony.
 
Twingo GT isn’t helping its case, Clio Cup is at least an almost there, & Megane Trophy still has the problems it had before & now maybe has the problem of being too on the nose. Adding to that, we probably shouldn’t give a pony a name too close to “Megan” since that’s a name super connected to the main human of G1.

But me, and other people like me, like the names and are using the names. Why does anyone have the right to deny that? It your opinion that the names are stupid.

Honestly the tags being aliased doesn’t even actually deny you that because the images can still refer to them by the dumb-in-my-personal-opinion car names & if you uploaded it you can call out the names in the description.
 
Also, it’s really silly to name all three of them after French cars because one of them has a french bread cutie mark…
 
& honestly it feels like you’re trying to deny me the right to refuse to call them by those car names, eh.

If this is the case, please at least only ask for a change from alias to mutual implication or something instead of doing anything like asking for a reversing of the alias, because I super do not want to use those car names myself.

I especially want to keep Fond Feather since it sounds like a cute nod to her being A.)A pegasus & B.)fond of someone named Feather.

& I suggested asking for a mutual implication, because I really don’t want them to reverse the alias.

Even if I doubt that’ll happen & one of us will just be dissatisfied with what they choose to be the main names instead.

We’re not going to give 3 character 2 name tags just because a few people want to name them after cars. Nothing is physically stopping you from naming, tagging and searching for them by the names Twingo, Clio and Megane. That’s the entire point of an alias.

Maybe you could’ve let people decide on those before going ahead and deciding for them tho.

Congratulations. Not everyone does, and people that don’t rush into it shouldn’t be exempt from getting a say in naming BG ponies.

I’m definitely for the non-car names, they sound much nicer in my opinion.  
Also, “Megane, Twingo and Clio” sounds really uncreative.
