There's no description for crystallized, but from looking at the tag's gallery, I assume it_*specifically_* refers to ponies (and other creatures) gaining the shiny coat of crystal ponies because of the Crystal Heart, as in canon?
Because, as rare as"[race swaps":](https://derpibooru.org/tags/race+swap) (or "_[*species_* swaps":](https://derpibooru.org/tags/species+swap)) like, say, "[pegasus Sunset Shimmer":](https://derpibooru.org/tags/pegasus+sunset+shimmer) seem to be, an AU that has Sunset born a crystal pony instead wouldn't qualify her as crystallized then.
I have some thoughts on the relation between crystal spike, crystallized and crystal pony as a whole too, but they're probably better off in the General Tag Discussion.
