Colored Changeling tags

I’ve seen several tags dedicated to changelings of specific colors, but the reason for tagging them with these seems arbitrary at best, or just pointless to really have around, plus they are mostly done by only one person.
For example, both of these are tagged Red Changeling, but the former could very easily also be tagged Orange Changeling.

Really my question is, what are these tags for, is it really just for tagging on changelings with an arbitrary amount of a specific color? Why not more general tags like blue body or red hair in those cases? Or perhaps none at all?
Another question is, do people use these or care about these? I have no clue. Given that most intstances of them being tagged are one person, I find that hard to believe.

If they are kept around tho, they would need proper descriptions/definitions and implications.

There are some other people using the tags I think, some posts were uploaded with it already there (no way to easily find that out through searching or the tag changes page, though)

“Christmas Changeling” is just a festively-presented changeling, not a species type of any sort, I think.

No strong opinion on these here, other than to note that they do seem to have significant counts.

I’d make a catch-all “colored changeling” (might not be the best wording) tag as an implication of those tags, if not as a replacement for them. The main reason I could think for having distinct color tags is if there’s a clearly-accepted fanon distinction between these different colors of (primarily-unreformed) changelings, and I don’t think there is. Otherwise, why not have color tags for other species? I’d rather not have to tag colors of everything like you see on e621 or Furbooru though.

I see zero reason for “christmas changeling” though and think it should be done away with.

There are a handful of others that you didn’t list, most notably ice changeling with over 100 images.

I’m not a changeling connoisseur, so I may be off the mark here. Might be worthwhile to personally reach out to the one who adds these tags frequently (as big personal tag projects tend to be frowned upon anyway), as well as others who may know better.

Good catch, I added a second * to my tag search so I missed some.

AFAIK they tend to indicate separate hives under separate queens, but nothing says a given color won’t get used in multiple fictions.

It’s odd that it exists, but I don’t mind it.
But, merry chrysmas and queen christmas should probably get aliased-> merry chrysalis (since that phrasing appears on a couple images including an Andy Price piece)

My main issue with the first one is that I know my own character, and I know his story and the tag doesn’t make sense for him and that was what really caught my eye on these tags. Bias, perhaps, but I’m not gonna lie.
