'classical unicorn' should imply 'unicorn', 'lion tail'

See the tag’s contents. “Lion tail” is a specific type of tail that’s one of the traits classical unicorns have and as limited to lions and demilions as pigtails are limited to pigs. Just because it’s named after an animal doesn’t mean it can’t exist outside of that animal.

/edit: i.e. “lion tail” is a long-docked tail that is mostly covered in short coat and has long tail hairs at the end.

We could use a tag to describe that tail on a classical unicorn, though I’m not sure if lion tail is the most appropriate, historic definitions using it or not. Either that or the detailed description for classical unicorn should point out that it’s perfectly okay to use the tag just for that tail and remove any implied tags that aren’t applicable.
I don’t think it should imply unicorn. The standing rule for tagging about not including redundant and self-evident information may not be included in the tagging guide lines anymore, it is still adhered to, that includes not tagging race, sex, species and the like to well known characters, which is what the classical unicorn tag is used on mostly. I’d put the responsibility of adding the unicorn tag to ocs and more obscure characters to the individual users rather than having it implied.

Nothing too horrendous. The worst I think we’d see of it is some people looking at the tag and misunderstanding it and then having some well intention-ed anon adding it to every picture of griffons on the site. I’d just point out that the classical unicorn’s tail being described as a “lion’s tail” may not be as common place or self evident as you believe. I still see people wondering why some artists draw unicorns with cloven hooves, unshorn fetlocks and the lion tail, so even the classical unicorn isn’t as wide spread of a concept as you’d think even within this fandom. More over, does there need to be a tag for the tail exactly? Unshorn fetlocks and cloven hooves have a use outside of the classical unicorn tag, but I can’t really think of an example of that tail on a unicorn were the classical unicorn tag shouldn’t also be used. If the tag couldn’t really exist outside the classical unicorn tag to begin with, does it need to exist at all?
