My guess is that bare chest is for males and topless is for females. But yeah, it does seem kind of redundant.

Sounds like topless is meant for both men and women to me, with the first part of what I underlined speaking about men and the second referring to women. Someone figured people would go by TheCrimsonSamurai’s guess.

I would think that “bare chest” is when the chest is actually visible, but this is a rather minor distinction, so I’m aliasing.
