they arrive at a room at ground Level to have them fitted.

Doctor: Once you figure out how to control them instinct should take over once you leave the ground and start flapping.

a short while later he stands in the brace, the metal bars supporting his weight and taking the load off his back legs.
 
“thanks doc. finally being mobile again feels pretty awesome.”
